Turn the clock back to November 1963. FA Cup. Torquay 6 Barnet 2. One of my favourite games at Plainmoor. The Barnet goalkeeper was a real character.

Yes that was the one no subs in those days so our injured goalie went outfield second half and scored. I think it was John Benson went in goal. ⚽️ Bit of a goal fest at that time 48 goals in 12 successive home games including 8-3 v Newport, 6-2 v Bradford, and 5-0 v Chester. ⚽️

Nice little historical snippet there Stefano. Were you using the voodoo magic back them as well?

Would rather play them in play off final than in semi. Ah well. Not to be title wise now. We won't be playing Stockport in the semi final. Today's result nearly guarantees us of 2nd place, which means we play the winner of the 5th/6th place semi final. Stockport and Hartlepool will finish in either of 3rd or 4th place.

Nice little historical snippet there Stefano. Were you using the voodoo magic back them as well? No need then with Stubbs, Northcott, and Jenkins. Their attitude was if you score 3 we will score 4 😉⚽️

Well I think that does suggest that written historical records whilst known not to be always right (have you seen the number of mistakes in that Centenary History?) would normally be better than eye witness testimony from many years ago! I can well remember John Benson playing as skipper in my early days of watching the team, but 1963/64 was my first season so it was obviously not then. I can remember local boys John Evans (scored the winner v leaders Tranmere on his debut) and Jeff Tolchard (real little goal poacher) breaking into the team in my early days of watching as well - but that was not 1963/64 either so neither of them went in goal!

Jon..what a coincidence! I had forgotten Terry Adlington scored for us against Barnet....but Allison just scored for Liverpool in the 94th minute! Also...Tommy Northcott...what a player! Absolute legend.

That Covolan save. Has anyone seen a better one by a Torquay keeper. What reactions. Absolutely incredible - will never forget it.
