After a much-needed win on Saturday we can go into this game with a bit more confidence, doubly so because Solihull themselves are on an eight game run without a win which included losing against us last month at their place.
Shortly after our previous fixture, Stockport then walloped them at home 5-0 which led to the sacking of their manager and Mark Yates taking over on a temporary contract. Gulls fans will remember him particularly from his five years at Cheltenham which coincided with our last stint in the league and included their two leg play-off semi-final win against us in May 2012. Funny enough, after he was sacked at Cheltenham in 2014 it was Paul Buckle that replaced him as manager!
After three days, probably unlikely that we will get anyone else fit for this game and If they are then probably likely to start on the bench and therefore anticipate that it will be the same lineup and formation. After speculating prior to the last game on how Johnson would shuffle his pack, he ended up putting Randall on the right, this allowed Little to support Boden up front in an advanced midfield position where he is both more comfortable and effective, particularly as he is showing signs of his old self. Law starting was the right call and allowed Andrews to play left midfield where i and many others thought he was MOTM.
Still looking for the first double of the season and with us desperate for points to keep pressure on Sutton then this would be a very good time to do it. COYY.

A much needed win and confidence booster follows pretty quickly with another opportunity to try and make up some ground on the leaders and establish a play off position..
My verdict on the KL game - Better but still plenty of room for improvement especially creating chances and our lack of a killer ball. Thought we started more patiently and built up some steam as the game progressed into the second period. I believe that was probably intentional to consolidate, give nothing away and not show our hand early on. Nearly backfired after 90 seconds though - I reckon the game would have taken off in another undesirable direction.
I found it odd that the one time CLE takes a shot the keeper spills and we score but to my reckoning that was his only shot on goal.
We really do have to get some more meaningful attempts on target
Once we get down the flanks and get behind defenders we may start to look a little more productive. Not sure we have the players available to do that at the moment though Andrews, not a natural winger by any means, did get some decent balls in from wide areas that should have been more productive had we had some height up there.
Another scrambled 1-0 win would do me nicely its a matter of hanging in there until we get players back.

A very good half 2:0 and we look the better side, moving the ball well and creating chances. Best I have seen us play since Boxing Day. Andrews has been the difference. He has hit the post twice in previous games from similar freekick positions and this time was on target with the keeper pushing it against the post and in. Also supplied the assist for Randall running in on the far side to hammer the ball past their keeper. Not that Solihull were without threat, havingtwo chances, both very good with Covolan saving well for one and Ward pushing the ball inches wide of the left-hand post for the other with the commos taking a long long time for the penny to drop it wasn’t a goal.

Very nice. 2-0 it remains for two consecutive wins, first time this year and our first double of the season. Looks like most of the teams around us have won tonight although Yeovil seem to be beating Notts County and keeps us in touch as we build form and confidence and with key players not far off returning.
Andrews nicks MOTM again for me but good team performance all round.

Very encouraging performance and vital win. Round pegs in round holes and we improve, who'd have thought it?! Andrews is transformed playing in his rightful position, Law has settled well, Little improving each game he is back and Covolan imspires more confidence for me than Mcdonald. Well done all, a good night.

Certainly looking better though we could do with Sutton dropping points when we win as there is ground to make up. At the moment they are winning routinely but they have not been top for long and as the games go by and the expectation increases are they able to handle the pressure? Time will tell, but I still feel they will implode.
I am not concerned about the Dover situation and the just about certainty that we will have 3 points deducted from our total, as really that does not change the table from what it is now.
All it means is that Sutton have won their game in hand, which in fairness they were likely to do anyway. At the moment Sutton are 6 points ahead with a game in hand. After the Dover adjustment they will be 9 points ahead having played the same number of games.
We have the making up of 3 points on the gap in our own hands as we have to play them again. Apart from that we need them to start dropping points and keep going ourselves.
Failing that if we aim for the top and fail then 2nd place would be ideal as it gives the best chance in the play-offs.
As Kevin Keegan would say "I'd love it if we beat them!". Every chance! 😉⚽️

All down to Stefano's prediction if you ask me..  Another fine win and finally a formula has been found to at least get us back on the rails and win some games. Shame our main rivals all won with the exception of Notts County but that's one thing we cannot influence and slowly we're beginning to see a few teams separating from the also ran's. Vital we try and keep this little bit of rediscovered momentum going until we face Sutton - there form is ridiculously impressive - in only a few weeks time. Suits us better being the underdogs anyway. |

Bit of a nothing second half - which is exactly what you want when you are 2-0 up at half-time.
Two clean sheets, two wins. Long way off our brilliant best, but confidence slowly coming back.
Did what we needed in the second half, hopefully leaving enough in the tank to make it three straight wins at Dagenham on Saturday.
At least a solid base to start slotting the returning players into.
