After that “mid-season break” this is now our fifth game in 15 days and we face a strong Altincham side that did not play on Saturday and are pushing hard for the play offs. They are a hard side to beat , most recently winning against Wealdstone and narrowly against Barnet but before that drawing 2-2 with both Sutton and Stockport. In fact that was their second draw against Stockport, one of the better teams in the league.
With Moxey “rested” on Saturday, no doubt he will be back and will bring better balance to the side and allow Lewis to go back on the right. It leaves Johnson with some hard choices to make in midfield, does he drop Little, who is getting better with each game after his return from injury but not quite there yet and continue with the CLE, Hall and Randell main combination of the season so far? Up front, Street or Umerah? What is clear, we have no ready made replacement for Wright and we seem to be relying on goals from midfield.
Although we have a decent lead at the top of the division, quite a few of our rivals have games in hand and it is closely packed in the play-off places so we need to keep winning to maintain the gap and with a couple of winnable games coming up would allow us to go on another run.

Need to watch out for Jack Swindells almost a goal a game for Altrincham in over 200 appearances!

I see the BBC website shows a 7.00pm kick off. It was originally, they just haven’t updated it.

This will be a tough one. Alty will not give us the time and space that Barnet did, so we will have to be "at it" to take the three points
I'd bring in Moxey for Little and play our 4-2-3-1 which works best for us. Toss-up between Street and Umerah up front. Street is four years younger than Umerah and not as powerful and aggressive, but I think his touch is a little better and that is the key to the lone striker role. It is a very big ask for a teenager to fill Danny Wright's boots - so let's not expect miracles from him.
By the way, Alf Steward managed both clubs - Alty 1933-38 and Torquay August 1938 - January 1940.

With the prospect of a voided season looming the result may have no meaning whatsoever and may well play in the back of players minds of both sides in every each game until they decide. Another hurdle for the manager to overcome.
Is voiding the season in the spirit of the competition?

Nice to see the two National League games postponed this evening are off because of the weather. Perhaps we are on the way back to normality ⚽️

Remember Jack Swindells very fondly from when he played for us in 1963-64. Very clever player.

Crikey. No centre forward. Tiki-taka. 4-2-4-0. Saw Tisdale do that once or twice.

No out and out forward in starting 11. Street and Waters on bench.
