I think this is a highly anticipated match up between the top two teams in the division with Sutton able to narrowly squeak ahead of us in the points per game column with a win. However, of their 15 games, only six have been away, their last on 1st December, with Aldershot being the highest placed team they have travelled to. Law of averages means they now have the schedule from hell with the next 4 league games being away against us, Hartlepool, Stockport and Boreham Wood over 3 consecutive Tuesdays with just a home game in the Trophy against Woking to break this up.
Paradoxically, this is our only home match in a run of seven games starting with Weymouth on the 28th of December and finishing against Southport in the trophy on the 6th of February. This is slightly skewed by the two away draws in the cup games and we have only played 10 away games out of our 18 so far. It does put us in a better light than Sutton particularly as the well maintained state of our pitch allows us to play our game more.
With Wynter not likely to be back in time for this game then the only question marks are will Hall be back to start in midfield and whether Street, Umerah or Waters will be leading the line from kick off.. Personally I would like to see Waters come on around the hour mark as I think he works better with either another striker to play-off from the off or as against Boreham Wood having the game to be able to take advantage of tiring defenders more. With his instinctive know how and positioning think he would have put those crosses away late on against Notts.

I hadn't realised that and it goes to show what a mess the pandemic has made of this season. Like you say Sutton face a schedule from hell, if it was us facing that run of games we certainly wouldn't be expecting to pick up the full 12 points. Not surprisingly some would call this game a six pointer but if it was to end in a draw I would far rather be in our position of being 9 points clear, rather than 9 points behind with 3 games in hand. As Jimmy Greaves used to say to the Saint "Games in hand aren't points in hand".

I think we will have to be at our near our best to get a the win and don't think we were that far off our best on Saturday we just came up against a good side very much up for it. Sutton have also played nine of their fifteen games at home on a plastic pitch I believe that surely gives them an advantage at home. Having said that their away form is also impressive in the six they have played losing just the once on foreign soil. Would like to see all teams play a similar number of games, perhaps a differential of one or two before any decision is made on ending the season though personally I don't believe that will happen as it could create more issues and cost government more in furloughing players and staff. The good news is that only one match in the NL was lost last Saturday so demonstrates were maybe beginning to get a hold of infection rates. Have to remain optimistic and I'm certain GJ will be approaching every single game as if it were any normal season. I see were also scheduled to be telivised on BT sport for the home match with Halifax in Feb. so that also gives me some confidence the season is going to continue. Lets hope so.

Dave Thomas preview - bit of news in here. Wynter now back in training but still needs match fitness. Warren went off with a calf injury and Kerr is sidelined. So few problems in defence. Either Hall if fit to play in centre defence, Andrew’s at left back or a back three of Cameron, Moxey and Sherring?

Taking everything into consideration i would happily take another 0 0 tonight and keep that gap... then on to Barnet on Saturday.

Funny how these things work out, Joe Lewis last match for us was against Sutton at the end of last season. Here he goes again.

Was worried we were a defender short, so pleased to see Lewis in. Assume he will start if Warren and Kerr out. Will he be right back and Sherring centre or vice versa? Expect Sherring will stay right back.
Hope he has had some time to train with us - an advantage he knows most of the players anyway.
I'd go Randell and Hall centre-mid with Lemonheigh-Evans behind Street - or if not Umerah. Would rather have Waters on for the last 20 minutes when space opens up - not suited to the lone front runner role from kickoff.
Stream started nice and early - good to see. Really strange watching a Plainmoor stream again. Would far rather be freezing my bits off rooted to my painted footprints. Just hope Dave Thomas doesn't ramble over the commentary.

link - Little starts, maybe 60 minutes? Lewis in defence and Umerah starts.

Expect Lemonheigh-Evans will drop deeper with Little further forward. Or will he? I agree Little unlikely to play much more than 60 minutes. Plenty of bench options - other than in defence!

Have you logged on for us this season? Sutton fan, so no. Any joy? I am a STH so don’t do the weekly log in. Best to re-register if possible?
