I may be wrong, but I think this was a classic - and my first ever game at Plainmoor. Didn’t Hartlepool have three players sent off - two for fighting each other? One of the few 15:00 kick offs of that year.

Told you Reg would not last long: Reg Campion wouldn't last long. Gone by the end of September - the second business manager to leave within a few months. Martyn Goulding available after his last job - coach to the Argentina Cricket team - was scuppered by the Falklands War. |

One of the few 15:00 kick offs of that year. Thanks for the memory. Yes they did. They were 2-0 up inside 15 minutes but we pulled back to lead 3-2 with them having a player sent off. Then two of their players had a punch-up near the end of the game and both got sent off. The win put us back on top of the league. Those of us of Budleigh's scrapbook generation knew it would not last and it would end up another season with "BUGGAR" written across it in red felt-tip pen. |
