link - EFL have announced restructuring of the game with reduction to 18 teams in the top tier and increased voting rights for the bigger clubs but with increased funding for the EFL including an upfront payment to get them through the coronavirus crisis. link however, the DCMS are not impressed calling it a back room deal creating a closed shop at the top of the game. I do think that with this increased funding stream it would be a very good time to get promoted from the National League.......

I'm sorry I can't post a link for this but on the BBC sport site the report on this is that the proposal has been put forward by Liverpool FC (on the behalf of their owners Fenway Sports) and has been supported by Man Utd (ie Joel Glazier). The Premier League itself are against the plans, which would need 14 Premier League to vote for it, take out the big six and that means you are looking for eight turkeys to vote for Xmas. Rick Parry has said he is in favour of the proposals, but since the EFL have no participation in Premier League matters I don't see how he could have been involved unless the big six are trying to bribe the EFL to support their efforts to stop the FA's plans to introduce curbs on the recruitment of foreign players after the Brexit transition period ends.

Seemingly the proposal is for the "big six" plus Everton, Southampton and West Ham (who have the most seasons in the league outside the six) to have enhanced voting rights. Strangely no mention of Villa or Newcastle who have both spent more time in the Premier than Man City. So if Man City are included ahead of them, by what criteria are they deciding who gets these extra votes?

Should also be noted that the proposals call for an 18 team Premier League with the 3 EFL divisions remaining with 24 teams each. This clearly doesn't add up to 92 so would seemingly mean losing two sides from the EFL.

Greedy selfish poncey Premiere League money grabbers/launderers being pushed by their rich global owners and media moguls? Strange at a time when the big boys are spaffing so much money, clubs in the lower leagues increasingly struggle. Surely the trend towards the “big six” dominating things needs to be reversed otherwise ultimately we will end up with a rump of rich clubs in their own fantasy league surrounded by the dying embers of what once was a functioning (if not perfect) league structure? To what ends?? Time for the Premiere League to acknowledge football is a game of the people for the people and all should rely upon a tiered structure to develop the game which is not just for a load of dodgy financiers perhaps?

Just waiting for the reprieve for two to be the creation of a fifth division - League 2 North and South but with the numbers made up not by National League teams but Premier League development teams. Never thought I’d say this, but just get on and form an American style Super League with locked in franchises.Different product. Wave them goodbye forget them and have a competitive Football League uncontaminated by clubs spending money they can’t afford in a gamble to strike Premier League gold.

I've been wanting that ever since the Ambramovich billions started to distort real competition in the premier league. Would like to see so called big six bugger off and form their Euro super league with the likes of Bayern, Barcelona and Real and leave the rest of Europe to play a truly competitive game where long term team building and development counts, not splurging millions every transfer window to buy success. If big six did bugger off it would probably mean end of premier league anyway and we can reboot football from there on with meaningful salary caps in each division/league and bring a bit of sanity back into football.

link - Good news in that this restructuring has been rejected by the Premier League and and a new financial package for Leagues one and two have been agreed in the interim.

Worryingly no mention of National League in these discussions. More important than ever to get promoted this season. With a number of League clubs having financial problems, although unlikely, there is the possibility of additional promotions from NL this season.
