This game is where it all began for me as a Torquay fan. I’d been with my dad a couple of times before but I was too young to appreciate what was happening and couldn’t be persuaded to attend again until this game.. By the time this game came along, I was 10 years old, discovered a couple of my friends were also there and I was hooked forever. I don’t know whether to curse that day or be eternally grateful but that 79/80 team remain one of most revered since watching Torquay.

I'm a few years older than you so this wasn't my first season at Plainmoor but it was the first time we seemed to have a decent crack at promotion, so yes I agree with you that that was one of the most revered sides I have seen. Didn't get really excited about us again until Cyril turned up.

If only they kept Jim Hagan.

I hadn’t realised that Donal Murphy’s brother had an opportunity to play for us.
