I dare say that had been a conclusion many reached about most owners who have taken the reins in the Club’s long history. Certainly was said in relation to all former owners in the time I’ve been supporting us, for sure. Didn't Dave Webb own the club once? I certainly don't remember anything nice being said about him. He did. I was very young then, Pete.

I agree... thank goodness the TUST were never allowed to take ownership of the club back in 2016. Allowed to take ownership? You make it sound as thought the trust had a dastardly plot to own the club that was somehow foiled. I don't believe the trust have ever wanted to own the club (I'm sure they realise their limitations as much as anybody does). They simply offer a "last resort" fallback in case the very worst happens. Thank you Jerry. You are spot on. TUST was hugely concerned throughout 2016 that the owners were painting themselves into a corner and taking the club to the brink of extinction without letting fans know how desperate the situation was. The proposal was to go public to raise badly needed capital. Dave Phillips did confirm that he was minutes away from calling in the receivers who would have liquidated the club. A very risky strategy, but let’s hope we got away with it. As long as loans are not secured against the freehold, we may do. TUST never set out to block injections of capital from outside. The choice of being gifted millions of pounds or not is not a tough one. Loans that turn into gifts are very welcome. Loans secured against the freehold are not a good idea. Ask Bury. Sad to read Gullone misrepresenting what happened.

Oh dear, Jon is off on his favourite fantasy again!
It’s to be expected of course because he still believes Peter Pan is real. Personally, I think Jon has lost his marbles...wait a minute! 🤔
Well done Gullone for representing what happened fairly. Well done Gullone for not being stuck in a box for your entire life. Well done Gullone for having intelligence and actually using it. 🌶

Aaron Lewis..22 year old right back currently looking for a new club. Former Wales U21 player recently on loan at Newport. Just the type of player GJ would bring the best out of.

Thought the same when I read gullone’s post. It read as if TUST were fighting off all comers at the gates. Only ever have wanted to be that last resort when no other options in the TUFC context has TUST. And the Phillips administration had a creditor who chose to take that option before that became an issue. Not sure why anyone would not want us to have a fall back option should the shit hit the fan given we all want TUFC to continue throughout our lifetimes and beyond. As it has under many different owners, many of whom were said to be the only reason the Club still exists at one time or another. You’d have to be an idiot to not want that fall back, imo. Still, it managed to peak Reg’s interest and give him something to dwell on during the 15 days of miracles, I suppose.

Depends on how far away Wynter is, to an extent. But may be of interest. I see Wynter as being able to make the step up to EFL should we get promoted. Him and quite a few others presently on our books.

If anyone had said to me pre season that Torquay would have been nine points clear at the top in February i would have simply laughed at them ! I didnt have hopes of any more than mid table ish for this lot. This squad has taken me by surprise and proved me completely wrong so far. At no point in the season have we looked like going on any sort of losing run and with the way we are managed i dont expect that to start now.

At no point in the season have we looked like going on any sort of losing run and with the way we are managed i dont expect that to start now. Thought we would be challenging but not so dominant. Knew there is some genuine quality in this squad but you can never gauge how good until well into the season where we are now. Injuries have disrupted things once again but to his credit GJ never uses that as an excuse though when he would be completely entitled to. Injury disruption continually seems to plague our season as it did last year but we do seem to have more depth and the situation has been better managed accordingly. Kerr Nelson, Warren three pre seson signings have barely featured and seem to be constantly sidelined with injury niggles and worse with Wynter also only playing a handful of games.Even Covalan seems to be very injury prone, has had a few spells out and now out for longer. To add to that Little took an age to return and hasn't looked at his best yet and we have now lost the services of our main experienced striker for a long while. Hall anothe rwho has been in and out of the side and struggling for fitness. I think when you look at he facts and what the management team has had to cope with it's a bloody miracle we are where we are.

Totally agree petef. The reality of our situation is that in order to bring in quality players there is likely to be a question mark hanging over them...most likely injury concerns. Proven, fit quality players cost more than we can afford.Every club in our position is looking for the promising youngster or the diamond in the rough. These are few and far between. However, in our current position...with a great chance of promotion...I think we probably need to be realistic about our injury situation and bring in a couple of players we know will be fit and can do a job. Too many players out of position at the moment and this has disrupted our season. Having said that...with the season not certain to be concluded it is a difficult time for owners to put more players on the payroll. A dilemma.

link - with the beast from the east around the corner quite appropriate that Wynter is coming, back.

Whats happened to Josh Umerah? Not a single word mentioned or any news of where he was on Tuesday, Injured or dropped? I don't think there is an issue here. When you have more than 16 fit players, some won't make the bench. When GJ decided to go with Lemonheigh-Evans up front, he was not going to have both Street and Umerah on the bench - only one would come on. Not much to choose between the two, but one or the other was bound to be left out of the squad.

I understand that John I wasn't suggesting a problem I hope he's fit and available surely our best option up top after watching on Tuesday. His absence just seemed rather odd and I suspected he may well have been injured with CLE selected ahead of him. If he wasn't injured it was an experiment that resulted in a rather dismal failure. We all know Josh's technical limitations but he is a presence and will bully defenders something that was glaringly missing in the week.

According to Dave Thomas in yesterday's 'Torbay Weekly' Gary Johnson confirmed Josh Umerah was fit for Tuesday's match against Altrincham and is in today's squad. Johnson is also looking for an experienced striker - maybe in time for Wealdstone??
