link - looks like the club will shortly release the retained list with the majority staying. Very different this year with players furloughed and doubt about restarting the season.

I only know for sure that Little and Andrews are on two year deals as the length of contract is not always reported when players sign so could be more. The NLS champions that re- signed in January 2019 for 18 months though are now at the end of their contracts.
The next 2 months are normally a drain on resources but HMG will be covering a lot of staffing costs. I would imagine there may well be break clauses in the contract if the next season is annulled or significantly delayed but there is talk in Europe of football recommencing in September but I remain to be convinced as to whether we will see normal crowds at this time.
Anyway, should the following 16 stay or should they go? Sounds like Johnson will keep most suggesting he possibly has enough in his budget for younger development players as well as the two or three marquee signings he is talking about. Think at least 2 will go, likely a couple more,
Keepers - Macdonald. Covalan
Defenders - Wynter.Davis.Cameron.Slough
Midfielders- Whitfield.Hall Nemane,Buse Kalala (plus Andrews and Little already contracted)
Strikers
Lewington, Reid and Koszela
Also, loan players can come back on loan or be permanently signed such as Vincent and Andrews last year. Would you welcome any of them back? Three, maybe four for me.

Keepers - Macdonald. Covalan - Keep one of them. Recruit one other. Defenders - Wynter.Davis.Cameron.Slough - Keep all. Loan out Slough. Get a wise head centre back. Midfielders- Whitfield.Hall Nemane,Buse Kalala (plus Andrews and Little already contracted) Keep all. Loan out Buse. Strikers Lewington, Reid and Koszela. Keep Reid. Loan out Lewington and Koszela. Recruit. Lewis - Yes Azeez - Yes Edwards - No Vincent - Yes Cundy - No Lemonheigh-Evans - Yes Longridge - No Have filled in thoughts above. On basis he has said most being offered, have gone for the above. I think there is more merit this season unlike any other in sticking with as many as you can and think can do a job for you. I doubt we will get all the loanees back I’ve put a yes by, though.

Nice to be at least thinking and writing about football again for a change - glimmers of hope for a return to some normality of late in the not too distant future.
Bound to be clubs sniffing around Jamie Reid. As per usual It all amounts to trying to retain our best players, the ones Gary knows can perform consistently at the this and the "next" level. I don't see a problem with either keeper to be honest they are of similar quality and its doubtful if we have the resources to capture anyone better. One or two players I have doubts over not only because of their ability but because of their age and Asa Hall comes into that bracket. He lost a yard or two this season but is undoubtedly still able with his know how but another season may just be a bridge too far. Liam Davis is another and one of my favorite players of recent seasons and who's age is against him I really hope he has fully recovered and has another couple of good seasons in front of him. Persoanly I think hes in a differnt bracket to Asa hes a naturally talented and fit athlete and I'm really hopeful he can do the business again for us For some of the younger players like Matt Buse its a crucial time. Did he do enough and has he got the quality to step up a level because that has to be the criteria if were going to progress. Koszela is another that really hasn't done a lot yet but neither has he had an opportunity. Lewington Likewise is another who has had few chances to get a run of games a shame for him as I believe he may be one that's sacrificed to create funds for additions. I think Cundy may be going back to Bristol City but would like to see Conner Evans return again. Despite his unspectacular form this season we all know he has the quality at this and a higher level if he can re capture the form that won him over to the fans. Jackson Longridge did a great job but can see him returning to his club. Azeez still not convinced he is the right foil for JR and on loan in any case so wil return to his club I would imagine. Frankie Vincent I would have back all day Has massive pottential and was a massively improving young player before he got crocked. The rest of the squad that is OURS should form the nucleus of next seasons squad I cant see many leaving.
I cant see to many changes to be honest and GJ ahas suggested as much that he wants to keep the majority of the squad together for another challenge. Once this bloody Virus crisis is out of the way of course.

I’m a big fan of Asa and what he brings to the team. If he goes, I would like one of our marquee signings to be a dominant experienced centre mid, for sure.
Fair point re his age, Pete and, like you, it’s not as much of a concern when considering Liam Davis, although both have endured injury ‘this’ season. Always a gamble in the 30’s, I guess.

I will be very surprised if Asa is not offered and accepts a new contract. Even if his legs are starting to go, still adds a lot of value to a young team even if mainly coming on for the last half an hour just to steady the ship.
Liam does seem to be a very fit and natural athlete and the good news is that he hasn’t had to rush back from a horrible injury and with a prolonged period of rest together with a pre-season build up has every chance of being back to his best.

Reckon Asa has one more season in him and would be glad to see him here next season and he does a good job in the center back line when required and that just may be his lifeline for another short contract . Gary will need some room to maneuver if he wants to improve the quality and he surely wont be sacrificing the players with room to improve, get stronger so ti will be interesting where he makes his cuts.

So the big news is that Kalala and Reid have rejected new contracts. The latter obviously looking for a league club and I wish him all the best as he has scored some belters and been a big part of our success this last couple of years. Johnson certainly got the best out of him and now need to trust him to find an able replacement. I think Kalala is taking a bit of a punt as he is by no means the finished article yet and there are still certain areas of his game including his application that need improving. The three players not offered new contracts were Dickson, which we knew about, Baxter and Lewington. The third player that already had a new contract for next year was Covolan. For me, the best re-signing is Whitfield who is a cracking little player. No issues with his application.

As expected Jamie Reid is tempted away. No fee will be involved I guess as out of contract. Surely should have been contracted earlier in the season. Disappointed that Kalala has also decide to go. Not everyone's cup of tea but on his day unplayable at this level. Both will be hard to replace. That list above looks pretty spare and weak with the loanees also returning.
GJ Has some work to do then....more rabbits to pull from hats Mr Johnson but if anyone can this man can.

Yep, initially forgot to mention him but Johnson confirmed that he has offered him a contract which has been accepted.
