I see recent transfer speculation implies that Jamie Ward may well be on the move from Chesterfield. Did we implement a sell on clause when we sold him to The Spirites?

That could be good news then. They are talking in the region of £250,000. What percentage will we get from that?

I seem to remember it was 25%, so we could stand to get a nice cash sum, should he move. I'm sure its only worked out on any profit made by such a sale and if I'm correct, then the fee they paid around £95.000 would be taken off the transfer fee, in order to work out the payment that would be made to TUFC. So it should be 25% of around £155.000 comes to £38.750. Would sure go some way to help with our low gates so far this season.

Apparently he is out of contract at the end of the season so we can only hope he is sold in January. However, the club rumoured to be in for him is Derby. Will Paul Jewell still have his job come January....that is the question?

Crooky, we can hope that he is sold in January, but Chesterfield will still get a fee for him via a tribunal in the summer if it comes to it.

Paul Jewell has left Derby. I take it his age is a factor then, ohtobeatplainmoor?

Yes Crooly, he will be under 24 come the summer. I guess tribunals are something to be avoided if possible - usually for the selling party. That said, we got a fair deal for Akinfenwa when he jpined Swansea but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
Ward is a cracking young player, I couldn’t believe it when we managed to nab him - although it was only a matter of time before he was forced-out by our lunatic chairman! I've still got an email somewhere from roberts cllaiming that Ward would not be sold!

I read somewhere (can't remember where!) that Ward was the subject of a possible £500,000 move to Sheffield United. I was desperately hoping this was/is true, because if he was to go for that amount of money, we would have received over £100,000 from the sell-on clause, which would have helped the club massively with all the 'credit crunch' and with the attendances falling.
Like ohtobeatplainmoor said, we would still have received some money from a tribunal had Ward agreed to a contract after his current one ends.
I'm just hoping that he does go for the £500,000 I heard of earlier in the season, as that money would help the club strengthen the squad for the second half of the season!
