First match was played in Paris last night with a comprehensive 4-0 win for hosts France over South Korea. Certainly will be checking in on this tournament with England and Scotland playing.

A very good game with England nicking it 2-1 against Scotland who came back from a couple of goals down with a good second half performance. Some very good passing and played in a better spirit than the men’s game.

Scotland went down 2-1 against Japan today with another soft penalty and looks like they won’t get through to the next round.

A tense match against Argentina on Falklands Liberation Day. They basically parked the bus and our goal was scored on just about the only occasion they got any players forwards leaving space to exploit on a rapid counter.

Really enjoyed the England game last night with two cracking goals to win it and although Japan were very good in the second half, think our team had the better chances during the course of the match. On the other side of the coin the Scots were knocked out after seemingly in a winning position but threw it away although unlucky in the role of VAR which gave the penalty and then deemed it should be retaken. Lots of thoughts about this in that it makes a keeper’s job almost impossible - link

Knockout stages penalty shoot outs could be mental. Retakes and sent off ‘keepers aplenty.

I see that the leading scorer of the ladies team, earns in a year what Harry Kane earns in two days! Yet again highlighting the insanity of paying someone so much money for kicking a ball about! I think Peter Crouch should get good money though. When asked what he would be if he wasn't a footballer, his reply was...a Virgin!

Lots of thoughts about this in that it makes a keeper’s job almost impossible Which I think is what it should be and is only going back to the position when we were learning the game. Then the keeper had to stand on the line and was not allowed to move until the ball had been kicked. Penalties did still get saved / missed, but the clear advantage was with the attacking team who had been subjected to foul play when close to the opponents goal. Jumping around like a circus performer was always ridiculous and I am pleased that common sense has eventually prevailed.

I’d probably rescind the yellow card rule for knockout stage penalty shootouts at this point. Still be a retake, after all. But VAR of pretty much every penalty will likely happen in any penalty shootout in this tournament given the early indications. The ‘keeper needs to move quickly in any event and if I had a bet, I’d say that movement will be taken out of the onfield officals’ hands for those kicks in this tournament.

I should write their rules. My suggestion has just been brought in by IFAB regarding yellow cards for keepers in penalty shootouts. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/uk.mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUKKCN1TM1VU

Really good 3-0 win today against a dirty Cameroon side whose players almost walked off twice after disagreeing with the off side decisions with VAR overturning the on field decisions in England’s favour twice. Like it or loathe it, the one thing VAR can do is get those marginal decisions right although one of those involved whether a player was active or not.
With an elbow incident, spitting, shoving the referee and Houghton getting her ankles raked with studs deep in extra time it was tough going but the better side came through to play 12th in the world Norway in the quarterfinals.
