A significant league milestone in that upon completion of this match we will be exactly halfway through our league campaign. This is the first team that we will have played twice at the expense of Truro who we of course play twice over the festive period. Our previous game against Hampton was our first loss of the season at Plainmoor after two wins previously but it was the manner of that loss which confirmed to the majority of the fan base that Owers was not the man to take us out of this league with the Owers out chants really getting going at this game.
So revenge is best served on a cold dish as they say and our side is now very much difference both in personnel and attitude on the pitch and Hampton will find us a completely different proposition. The next five games gives us an opportunity to cement a place at the top of the league and this game is particular crucial as Billericay and Woking play each other on Saturday. Woking incidentally went to extra time in the FA trophy on Tuesday before losing so have a difficult festive period in terms of games played in a short period of time.
The other big issue for us will be to see what if any injuries were sustained last Saturday to add to the suspensions of Cameron and Keating. On their own I think can be easily covered with Sendles-White coming into defence and hopefully Edwards on the wing but suspect he will only be able to play for part of the match as Johnson eases him back to full match fitness and perhaps Andrews can play out wide with Hall and Lemonheigh-Evans in the centre of midfield.

Best result from the Woking game, would be for it to be abandoned! Next best a draw. Other than that, I would think Billericay winning is preferable, because Woking still have a couple of games in hand, and a win for them would put them dangerously close!
For us, after that brouhaha last weekend, I'd settle for a draw!

link - looking at the latest David Thomas article seems that anyone available will be part of the match day squad including possibly 2 academy players in Koszela and Baxter. However since we last played Hampton & Richmond now have for tomorrow : Janneh Kalala Lemonheigh-Evans Andrews Sendles-White Also massive improvements to Reid and Wynter so not the same side.....

Unavailable: Jakub Sokolik, Ryan Dickson, Opi Edwards (injured), Ruairi Keating and Kyle Cameron (suspended), Jon-Paul Pittman and Brett Williams (out on loan).
I see that Williams has gone out on loan for family reasons.
The Torquay bench is very light with two youth players and a keeper. Lets hope the bench is not required to turn the game.
Lets hope for no injuries and/or more red cards.

Happy with the starting eleven. We look more solid with Hall starting.
Weak bench. Is it too late to announce a late signing to give us a decent bench option?
Don’t like the thought of having to make Janneh and Reid play every minute of every game.

Kalala scores after being set up by Reid. A fine pass and finish it was. We’ve looked the better of the two sides, but they have broken away once or twice and we’ll need to be on our toes. MacDonald hasn’t been tested but our midfield is letting them through a bit. Lemonheigh-Evans picked up a silly bookings for kicking the ball away and isn’t having the best of games in the middle of the park. Reid, Janneh and Kalala looking dangerous every time they get the ball. Defence looking solid with Sendles-White and Niate on the same wavelength. I see Woking are 3 up at Billericay. |

Thanks for the recap Rob and a second goal should be enough to stay top of the league for Christmas. Suspect that it may become a 2 horse race for the league by the New Year.

Getting to the point where I am expecting to win tricky away games 3-0.
What a transformation in attitude Gary Johnson has brought about from the rubbish we were served up by Owers.
I was hoping that Billericay could delay their implosion until after today.
Woking looking very strong indeed and one very good team is going to have to face the play-offs. Hope it is them not us.

Connor continued to have a poor game until subbed, barring an exquisite pass followed by a great touch and finish from Janneh before departing. I thought we looked assured in defence throughout and Kalala, Janneh, Reid and in the second half Andrews all looked good going forward. In terms of breaking up play in the middle, that was a one-man job for Hall today, with Connor over hitting passes and looking off the pace for much of the game.
The pass by Andrews for Kalala’s second was also a very good ball.
My ratings:-
MacDonald 6 Didnt do much. Kicking poor.
Wynter 7 Solid
Niate 7.5
Sendles-White 7.5
Davis 7
Kalala 8.5 Calm finish for his first, when could easily have skied it.
Hall 6.5 Worked hard
Lemonheigh-Evans 5 Not at the races
Andrews 7 Good second half
Janneh 8.5 My MOTM. Well taken goal.
Reid 7.5 Good assist for the first. Worked hard throughout.
Subs not on long enough for a rating, but Olaf looks reasonably strong for his age. I’d say there were more Gulls than H&R supporters there today.

Thanks for your thoughts on the match Rob. Funny but when Connor initially came on loan he looked like he was playing at a level well above this league but seems to have had a bit of a dip in form during the last month and hopefully can get back to where he was. Great to hear Hall is back to where he was pre-injury and at least he is now relatively fresh going into this intense period of games.
Our league record away under Johnson is phenomenal and our record for consecutive league wins is now in sight but despite all that we are not going to walk this league as there is another very good side in Woking out there and we need to remain focused and keep grinding out those results. If we win the next four we will be a minimum of 5 points clear and that will put pressure on the chasing pack in itself, regardless of games in hand.
