Owers said: “It is with huge regret that I leave Torquay United. I am sorry that we have not found the success that we planned for.
"Our lack of goals and strong performances do not reflect the quality of the team, its preparation and training. There are sometimes circumstances that drain confidence."
Preparation and training my arse.

Dave Caldwell for me. He is on this forum. DC has always held an affection for the club and has offered assistance on numerous occasions and was either ignored or turned away. Haven't seen him posting for a while after he was ignored the last time and stated he had had enough. As much as I admire what DC did here, his passion and goal scoring exploits I don't believe he would ever be considered or be the right choice at this juncture.. We have to move on from the past. All the ridiculous talk of Leroy, Buckle Hargreaves Nicholson etc is ludicrous fueled no doubt by the stupid poll on Devon Live.

It was plainly obvious that we were going nowhere and with the atmosphere at Plainmoor absolutely toxic this gives us all a chance to reboot the season and for the fans to get behind the team again!

One thing that struck me today was that the original statement from Osborne was that Owers was STILL THE MAN and was not being replaced and Osborne was going to continue to let it stew.
My take on it is that that Garry Owewrs resigned after weighing things up a short time after the meeting with Osborne. He looked a beaten man in interview on Saturday and I felt quite sorry for him watching it.

Dave Caldwell? On the basis that he posts on the forum? Why is it the local media and supporters of TUFC can only ever think about appointing people who have some link?

Its called a vote of confidence. The very fact that the head honcho has to publicly support his underling means he is fecked.

Dave Caldwell for me. He is on this forum. Wes Saunders ex-player, no managerial experience; Chris Hargreaves ex-player, no managerial experience; Kevin Nicholson ex-player, no managerial experience; All recruited as managers of the club, all bloody useless. Makes perfect sense that we should go for Caldwell then.

Although, with Osborne, expecting something other than what he says is probably a reasonable barometer. 5 year plan; local board; fans forum; Stadia 2020 and so on.

It didn't look like a good appointment at the time...and it proved to be the case. What next? Next few days/weeks should be interesting.

Elsewhere the speculation is best summarised as Gary Johnson will be announced tomorrow.
