It is indisputable that our results were better with him in defence last season. However, since he took a private matter between him and the club onto Twitter ahead of this new season, I have been looking forward to him getting a move out. Best for both parties. With 3G matches coming up at Oxford and Slough, the chance of him being available, despite doubts over Essuman and Sokolik’s fitness, would have been slim and none. |

I see Gowling has played 90 minutes in all five matches so far.
Alfreton have won four in a row and moved up to third in National League North - widely acknowledged to be a far stronger league than the South.
Intelligently managed, Gowling would be an asset to any club at our level.

I do rate Gowling and always remember the first game last season against Tranmere when he was simply outstanding. I do think Gary Owers has recruited very well defensively though and i wouldnt put him ahead of our current rosta of centre halfs when all are fit. Personally i am looking forward to Niate and Sokolik slotting back into a back five and letting Gary Owers with a touch help from Jon sort the rest out ! Enjoying the ride so far...COYY |

Some of the playground name calling garbage certain people were spouting about Josh Gowling was way out of order.
I'm always amazed how insulting and disrespectful certain sections of supporters are towards players and managers alike.
Believe it or not Kevin Nicholson is still being run down and berated on a daily basis - blamed for all our troubles now by certain sections.
Gowling is a capable player and has been unlucky with injury.
Though we appear to be stronger in that department I still rate him and we always looked stronger and more organised when he was fit and in the side.
