Big piece in the NLP today on Ryan Clarke.
Following the lead of other professional footballers recently, he has spoken out about having suffered with depression in recent years.
While attitudes to depression are changing for the better, it is disappointing to see the neanderthal attitude of one or two Torquay supporters.
Gold star for this particular gem:
It's almost as if Mother Theresa Nicholson was on a mission to give employment to the sick, lame and lazy wasn't it!
Whilst ignorance is thankfully on the decline, there is still a long way to go before it is eradicated.

Glad that he feels he is now in a better place. One or two over there seemed confused as to his availability last season, forgetting that he was on the bench while Dorel was the preferred choice for much of last season.

Reckon I know where that pathetic hypocritical and ignorant quotecame from. Sorry to hear that but glad hes had the courage to recognise and admit to his problems and to make it public. Once hes done that he can get help and move forward.

I really sympathise with Ryan Clarke. I see from the NLP article that he has suffered from bereavement and had a cancer scare. Both my parents have passed away in the last two years and one week after my father died in November I was diagnosed with cancer for which I am still being treated. Whilst I have been lucky that my employer is still supporting me, the resulting depression has been hard to cope with. I hope that Ryan will be able to get his live back on track at Bath City and whilst never a fan of Kevin Nicholson i find it unfortunate that some people have chosen to use Ryan's misfortune as a stick with which to beat Nicholson.

If Merse had found Nico in bed with his wife, you could in some way understand the constant battering Nico receives from Merse! That would never happen of course, because there is nothing wrong with Nico's eyesight! 😊

He was in 34 match day squads out of 46. Had Lavercombe not got injured, we would never have signed Dorel and Clarke would very probably have played 34 matches. The twelve he missed were nothing whatsoever to do with his depression or his old triceps injury.

Very pleasing to see that Ryan Clarke has been ever-present for Bath City this season. Bath's manager must think he's won the lottery.
