Wasn't expecting Kuhl to have left the gang. It was a magnanimous gesture at the time, to offer Kuhl the consolation prize of Assistant having claimed the Managerial post ahead of him, but I never got the impression that Owers and he became inseparable buddies.
This close to the start of the season, the logical move is for the call to go out to King Kev to provide much needed help, even if only short term. Owers doesn't need double the workload when there's a two game a week schedule and a million phone calls to make trying to finalise the squad. I'm certain Kev could be relied upon to get on with taking the training etc, rather than chiding Owers for somehow managing to get a lottery winning squad relegated. Another alternative I suppose, is to promote Josh Gowling to the role of Player/Assistant Manager.....he may already have a salary that would reflect that added responsibility.
Good luck to Martin Kuhl as he moves on. Hopefully he will return, maybe in a couple of years time to watch us in action at the Osborne Arena.

chelstongull Steady on Chelston, those plans haven't even been seen by the Local Board yet, and only after that will every Tom, Dick & Harry be allowed a gander. Of course, you're free to express your impatience at the next Fans Forum. However, I should be nipping into the club shop in the next day or two to pre-order the new shirt (with 'TRIALIST B' printed on the back) and will attempt to ascertain if the foundations have been dug, or if an artists impression of the 'Arena' can be exhibited on the big screen at one of the upcoming friendly games

Won't be missed.
Part of a management team that created a toxic atmosphere leading to relegation.
You always got the impression that he didn't want to be here. Guess what. He didn't want to be here. That kind of negativity transmits itself to players.
I haven't been Owers' biggest fan so far as his personality (or lack of personality) seems to drain the energy out of players and fans alike.
Maybe Owers will be able to bring in a more bouncy and upbeat character to complement his own style. Successful management duos often have two men of contrasting characters.

Not been many successful management duos that I can remember. I can only think of Clough and Taylor, and they ended up splitting anything but amicably. We just need a new manager, who can make playing for Torquay enjoyable again. Most number twos stay in the background though don't they? Doesn't mean they aren't a vital part of the management team. Many managers take their backroom team with them from job to job so I think there are probably more of these duos than you think.

I asked my cat if he could think of any and - to my great surprise as I didn't think he could talk - he came straight out with the names of the two men who led Arsenal to the double in 1971!

Many managers take their backroom team with them from job to job so I think there are probably more of these duos than you think. My knowledge of top-flight football is probably stuck in the 70s as my interest has slowly faded since then. Back then, having a canny number two who could pick up on players' reactions to how the manager treated them, pick players up who had been knocked down and slap down players who got too cocky was a key part of having a successful management team. Now, I expect Premier League clubs have teams of professional psychologists and other specialists for all that. So I expect the old "management duo" is now more prevalent at our level than at the top.

Younger readers might not understand and think that I am going mad, so for clarity my cat's exact words were: Mee Howe He did not say Bertie and Don.
