Oxford have appointed Bury Assistant manager as thier new manager.
I dont know much about him. I think that Oxfords chances of promotion this season are almost nil but they may improve after Christmas.

Chris Wilder was probably one of those players who knocked about a number of clubs without really being clocked by football fans at large (I had to look him up). The Non League Paper got it right today saying he'd get the Oxford job and mentioned that, prior to becoming boss at Halifax, he also managed Alfreton. Something of a non-league specialist who'll either be seen as a shrewd appointment - or one made on the cheap. I wonder if it's not a bad appointment by a club that's finally waking up to its place in the wider order of things?
Some other stuff from today's NLP:
* nine Conference clubs (assuming that's the BSP, Conf S and Conf N) have outstanding tax bills. No names but sounds like it's a bigger problem than the Conference anticipated.
* Worcester City are cutting their wage bill and Fisher Athletic are subject to a transfer embargo for not paying our old friend Stev Angus. It seems Stev was injured throughout his time at Fisher.
* the Woking chairman's regionalisation plan gave the paper the chance to run an interview with Barrow's chairman who rubbishes the idea. Yesterday's news, I suspect. Your chips will be wrapped in it tomorrow.
* argy-bargy over the night the lights went out at Droylsden. An off-hand remark at the Chesterfield end has led to denials of skullduggery from Droylsden's owner-manager Dave Pace, a man whose reputation goes before him.
* Cafu to play for Garforth in the steps of Socrates and Careca (but at least he's rather younger).
* Barry Fry in transfer row shock horror drama with Cambridge (over Scott Rendall ) but may be patching things up with Ebbsfleet (over Kwesi Appiah). Speaking of his dealings with the Cambridge chairman, Bazza says: "to be honest, I told him to f*** off."
And lastly, an interview with Graham Fenton, Blyth assistant manager and the Geordie who scored for Blackburn to bugger up Newcastle's championship hopes back in the 1990s. I was watching Blyth a couple of years ago with a mate who is a Newcastle season-ticket holder. He reckoned Fenton's goals that day indirectly caused the break-up of his marriage. I didn't get the details...
