Offers made to Williams, Young, Keating, McGinty, Dorel and Davis. Reid already contracted for next year. We won’t sign all of them but I am happy with them in the NLS and could form the nucleus of a promotion challenging squad

Keating is the only surprise on that offer list for me, although his wages won’t be anywhere near that of the others made offers.
Most non knee-jerk sensible posting across the forums had Dorel, Young, McGinty, Davis or Williams as fit for purpose offer material amongst their choices. Not convinced he will get any or all of his men, but I hope he does, as it would be proven quality to build around. I’m pleased Owers has valued those 5.
Sokolik a maybe, no opinion as don’t know enough about what he can offer. Osborn, no idea at all as to his quality. Both will be low offers, I’m sure. Reid on an existing deal from Owers. So be it.
Don’t disagree with any of those listed or released. Fair play to Owers. He has probably got this one just about spot on. Hope he gets some or all of his well chosen offer material and is rid of the ones transfer listed well before pre-season training. Bravo.
Heard this Young rumour. If true, he’s gone then. Can’t see McGinty staying either, tbh.

I would be surprised if any of the names Owers wishes to re-sign will be interested in the "offers of re-engagement". That to me sounds like a short contract with conditions attached. Their agents will no doubt be in overdrive to see what alternatives are on offer as Owers has quite rightly given them a deadline. Strange also that of those players he wants to retain none were his signings but the signings of previous managers. Young to Yeovil? not sure where that's come from cant honestly see him setting the world on fire anywhere up from the NL to be honest. Romain would have been nice but I doubt he will to come back here again and has ambition. One thing is certain Owers has to make the right choices this time around with very little room for mistakes, a poor start to next season and he will have the supporters on his back with nowhere to hide.

Romain would have been nice but I doubt he will to come back here again and has ambition. He still has a year left with Dagenham as things stand. Loanees in that scenario will always get announced as returning to their parent clubs, Pete. Fairly sure Owers will want to sign him having already tried to. I don’t have too much faith that many of those offered deals out of the list will sign, barring Keating. But you never know as we don’t know the important small detail or what else is out there for them. Agents will indeed play a major part. PS: Surprised to read you were banned from BTPIR, Pete.

I believe that the three on the transfer list were out of contract at their previous clubs, so cost nothing in terms of initial outlay, yet they have each received a year's wages for a return of 42 starts between them. Hopefully they are being given free transfers and will be snapped up (joke) by some other NLN or NLS clubs, so that they will be out of the door as soon as possible. On the other hand, they may feel, at their age, that their future careers are not worth pursuing and will be happy to keep earning their wages by sitting in the stands.
Kevin Nicholson may have had his hands tied in terms of the budget available to him, but these three could well prove to have been his biggest mistakes and create a further millstone around the club's neck.

Fair point, Stewart. Could happen. I’m more optimistic. Owers doesn’t strike me as someone short of ideas to show the door to someone outstaying his welcome, and they will all know that of him. I’d like to think they won’t be about during pre-season. Training with the youth team would likely be their orders at that point.
Nobody knows what they are on or their circumstances other than those who need to, but Clarke has done plenty of coaching in the Bristol area in the past and will likely be looking to his future in a different way than that, perhaps with a negotiated pay off is my guess. He’s also still a reasonably decent back up ‘keeper option for someone.
Tyrone Thompson manages the other two. Will be interesting to see what they do, but my guess on them both is they will go via a negotiated pay off if no interest in their services by pre-season.
Gowling’s alleged training ground spat with Owers has been mentioned a lot on forums recently, as an aside. If true, that might factor in his thoughts either way. No idea if he wants to continue his playing career, but he won’t get that opportunity under Owers.
Don’t think any of the three will be the millstone you are worried of, Stewart. Gut feeling only as I haven’t really got a clue!!

Not difficult Rob it was some time a go I found it quite easy to get banned . Over a period of time I found BTPR to be just a clique, a sound box for one sided and on occasion childish playground one sided and personally insulting views that I don't agree with. If you fail to tow the party line as soon as an excuse is found for you to be kicked out your gone. I was accused of being a racist after posting during the ownership changes and there was talk of a Chinese consortium showing interest. Not being given any opportunity to explain my comments I was banned instantly. Ironically I find many of the posts and threads and comments insulting and degrading and its wholly accepted on there. Football opinion is generally "hogged" by just a handful of regular posters. I do find it rather odd that the "Non league football Mersiah" (Apologies that was a little childish but I couldn't resist!) now posts regularly on the .com site - I used to read his posts but they are boringly monotonous spewing out the same old garbage and blaming Kevin Nichloson for this seasons failure and telling all that this site is as good as dead. You know the score I guess. Owers opening hand has been played but I'm pretty sure things will look very different in two months time and hopefully players of equivalent ability as Romain, if he doesn't return, will be on board. The thought of a front line of Reid and Keating doesn't fill me with much confidence. Williams I cant see anyone else being interested to be honest doesn't look the player to set the goals for column alight. Yesterdays announcement was made to demonstrate his intent to supporters and to try and win back some friends. For certain he will know he is on dodgy ground and needs to get the supporters back onside if he is to succeed. An Owers quote I completely agree with. “ I know what it will take – more goals, more leadership, and we need some men to go and represent the club. Recruitment is king." Leadership has on the pitch has been sadly lacking - we need a proper captain and leader and organiser as much as anything.

Not too optimistic given that Owers looks to be staying. ...guess we have no option but to get behind him and support the club. I think the only way forward given our limited budget is to bring in good young players. Hopefully Owers can find them.

I heard the same whispers but put it down to the side effects of Peroni. Did anyone else notice former chairman Alex Rowe sat in the Directors box, looking more comfortable than he did when he was last time around. Given his mid-week tweet maybe a two match ban would have been more likely! Pleased but curious as to know as to why he was in there?
