Hey Torquay United fans! I'm a researcher on a new sports documentary series for a certain streaming platform, and one of our episodes focuses on the classic 1987 Torquay v Crewe game... you know the one - Right now, we are digging for newspaper articles / headlines about the game and specifically about Bryn the police dog, that were published in the days/weeks following the game. Any British publications will do. - If you own a copy of such a newspaper or article clipping, we would greatly appreciate it if you could send it our way! Any links to digital copies that exist online would also be much appreciated. - Secondly, if any of you own actual PHOTOS or GAME FOOTAGE taken that day, of players or audience, we would also be very interested in taking a look. We all want to do right by Torquay and tell this incredible story as best we can! Please contact me at brendan.donovan@topicstudios.com if you have one of the aforementioned items. Serious inquiries only, please. Thanks, Brendan

The police dog got over excited because a very small number of Torquay fans were behaving like morons, and then the Torquay full back came in from behind (on the pitch and playing of course)so the dog bit him. He was down injured and the appropriate amount of time was added on. Torquay scored in the 89th minute (not 90 + 10 - there is no such thing as a game lasts for 90 minutes and the added on time is making up for time lost) so it is all nonsense. If anybody saved Torquay it was the Crewe player who decided to dribble the ball into his own penalty box in the last minute. To me he is a bloody hero!!

I always had - at the time - this theory that Crewe threw it. The atmosphere was getting testy at the least, and when McNichol was down getting treatment, I remember the Crewe players gathered in the centre as a group obviously in conflab, and perhaps I was simply praying that they were discussing a way of getting off the pitch in one piece, but when that crazy dribble and almost pass on a plate for Dobson to equalise happened, I was almost convinced that they let us have it.
