So we eventually kick off the new year which does not bode well with a tough match against Wrexham who have one of the better defensive records in the league. With our poor goal scoring record I can see heads dropping if we concede early. Desperately need something from this game to spark a revival to stay in this league which is looking ever less likely I am afraid.....

One of best defenses against the worst attack. Wrexham , however don't score many goals either - amazingly just a few more than we have managed. All academic in all honesty win draw or lose the situation is just to desperate with just a couple of new faces both - look pretty lightweight. Brave of them to come though I give you that.

We can just scrape a 16 man squad together.
Davey and Gnabouyou gone from the Boreham Wood 15, but Dowling, O'Sullivan and Fletcher to come in.
Only four defenders in the squad.
Do we go for a back four with Efete at right back and two left-footed centre-backs? McGinty did o.k. alongside a fellow left-footer towards the end of last season.
Efete / McGinty / Andresson looks a decent back three, but who could play right wing-back? Myrie-Williams? Reid would give it a go if asked. O'Sullivan? No idea of his style of play - it would be a bit much to ask a young debutant to play out of position.
If it is a back four, do we go "two banks of four" or maybe back to the diamond we started the season with?
We don't seem to have any natural wide players in the squad. Reid and Gosling can play wide, but it is not either player's preferred position? O'Sullivan? Again, I don't know.
If it is a diamond, you would expect Lathrope to sit just infront of the back four - which would give some license (if not quite as much as a back three does) for Efete and Davis to overlap.
I would have said Young and Dowling ahead of him and Gosling "in the hole". Does the O' Sullivan signing change that? Would he be better suited to taking Dowling's place or Gosling's? Or will Young or Dowling be pushed up into "the hole"? Or will O'Sullivan start on the bench?
I am very wary of lumping too much responsibility and expectation on to young shoulders, but I think I would definitely start with Fletcher as we are so desperate for a goal scorer.
Who best alongside him? I suppose Keating is the nearest we have to a target man even if he isn't one. There would be an argument for Pittman's experience to complement a youngster, but I think Reid would be the least bad option.
If anyone is going to the match, give me regards to Crad's house.

Gosling misses out and joins Clarke, Myrie-Williams, Pittman and Keating on the bench.
Radio Devon reckons Dowling will play right wing-back.

I don't need to say it again! Do I? Those that won't hear still won't listen!

One goal scored in open play since the end of November. Anyone thinking we will survive this term are deluded - its as good as over. Owers and Kuhl wholeheartedly endorsed by The God of football Knowlege on the BTPR have failed miserably. No idea why but the BTPR haven't as yet come up with a playground name for Owers and Kuhl. In any case they have come in thinking a good bollocking and a rocket up the players arses would do the trick and its completely back fired. The end of the football club looms, the one I grew up to love I'm beginning to despise.

chelstongull Chelston back from Wales, and already treating us to a joke that Max Boyce would have been proud of. Don't forget our hugely improved organisation either, it's not just the tip top fitness that we revel in these days. 'A 7-0 loss if King Kev was still in charge !'....yeah, yeah, we believe you Nico haters. Facts are facts and Kev's record of 100% success in keeping us up on his peanuts budget and peanuts wage, with all the ownership/ administration concerns shenanigans playing out around him, only mark him out as an even greater club legend with every day that passes. As the Non League paper referred to him on December 3rd: 'Miracle Worker' ! I don't blame Owers for not being able to hold a candle to King Kev when it comes to galvanising his squad, inspiring the fight, determination, camaraderie, and undying spirit amongst his players to battle against the odds. Kev's pride and love for the club never waned in the darkest of times. The slings and arrows aimed from London were brushed aside as he roused his troops time and time again, even when others were declaring that all was lost. Additional money our owner would rather not have spent, but Clarke Osborne listened when the early season call went out: 'We want King Kev's head on a stick'. How the Nico haters cheered and rejoiced for a month or two, maybe even longer, but they're not cheering now. Their platitudes about organisation and fitness are now scorned, and they surely dare not even try to con us with those old lines any longer. No matter what set back for the club, no matter what cost in League status for the team, no matter how hollow a victory it will look in only a few months time, bringing down Kev was the be all and end all. The legendary KING KEV. His unrivalled mastery at motivating the TUFC troops in the trenches when the relegation chips were down will pass into folklaw. Cometh the relegation battle, cometh the Saviour. Will we ever see his like again ? Get that statue built !
