While at university I played with Andy Perrett – who was on Torquay’s books in the late 1970s… we had a gathering of some of Royal Holloway’s finest footballers yesterday at New Scotland Yard.. it’s a long story – but we finally unearthed a picture of the University of London Challenge Cup winners in 1981. I have done several searches of the web and can find no trace of him on social media other than mentions on this site. Hopefully he will see this picture - he captained the college when they were runners-up in both the University Cup and League the season before - no mean achievement given the size of RHC compared to the big central London colleges – and the fact our facilities were way behind our rivals. Andy proved to be a lasting influence on my football career that has spanned another 30 years into coaching and even becoming a Hampshire FA councillor. It would be great to let him see this as we don’t think too many copies existed. Attachments:

Didnt see Andy play for Holloway but saw him play loads of games for the very successful TBGS teams and Torquay youth and reserves teams. Very solid and consistent player, didnt quite make the first team but nearly got on the subs bench away at Sheffield United but Mark Smith got the nod instead Remember his 'Beckenbauer' runs bringing the ball out of defence. He played in the reserves defence alongside Clint Boulton who was coming to the end of his time at Plainmoor and Tommy Sermanni in midfield several times. Andy read the game very well and his timing in the tackle was spot on , came up with some important goals too
