The first cuckoo of Spring, the first TUST Newsletter of a new season, or blasting the first red grouse to bits on the glorious twelfth. And just as special will be the sound of the referee's whistle at 3pm on Saturday signalling that Torquay United's 2017/18 season is underway.
I'm expecting an interesting and eventful season. Good and bad results, a selection of highs and lows from what we witness on the pitch, while off it, plenty more good natured tussles with the TUST militants.
But for the moment, full concentration on Saturday and our opening fixture with Tranmere Rovers. I've cast an eye over the Rovers squad and there's plenty of experience and talent there. I'll highlight just a few to look out for on Saturday.
In the back row, the lad Coppell is showing a lot of promise. A pacy and tricky winger with the potential to give Sam Chaney a torrid time.
Then there's Rovers goalkeeper Tommy Lawrence, who is almost as old and experienced as our own Ryan Clarke. The Rory Fallon v Ron Yeats aerial battle could be fascinating. Each has played higher up the pyramid in his younger days, and both these big men will be eager to impress in front of the large Plainmoor crowd. Bobby Tynan ?....also born in Liverpool, but about 3 weeks after our Tommy....an early 'firm' McGinty challenge should keep him quiet for the afternoon.
Then, later on it'll be time to get the League ladders compiled in the right order. I keep meaning to get a new set, but as the old ones have got a bit of wear left in them, I'll let them see out this season as well.
But to really get us in the mood for the big kick off and the return of 'Saturday Fever' it's much better to put TFF members in the capable hands of Cliff Michelmore, as he'll know just how to restore that football frame of mind in readiness for 3pm tomorrow.
