Spurs dropped the Spurs for five seasons from 1951 to 1956. www.newtonabbotspurs.co.uk/item.php?pg=gct&pd=41&it=3The "Derby encounters" referred to would have been with Paignton Corinthians, Brixham United, Totnes United and Dartmouth United all originally mooted as members but all of whom got cold feet. Spurs (without the Spurs) only lasted two seasons in the SWL, but rejoined for another twelve (with the Spurs) 1959-71. |
