Well we will soon be over the New Year threshold and we will not want to be falling to far behind. 10 points from Burton one game in hand and still top play them. We have had a record breaking run and then the awful loss at Eastbourne which needed to be seen to be believed. Thankfully this site did not self destruct with the sort of posts that were to be found elsewhere in cross examination. I do agree that there have been 'some questionable tactical decisions by the Buckle but hey where would you choose to be now? Where we were last season fearing the bubble bursting or on the end of a fantastic run then a little blow out. I know where i wanna be, plenty of time to get ti right but this needs to start this weekend.

We are by far the best footballing side in this league and feared/reveered by all in this league so what do we have to fear? We have Benyon in excellent form, Silly not on it right now but just a brief blip. Bevan was a waste of time at Langney and tghat worried me - however i have only seen him once this season. All in all the package is there MORE than last season in my book.If we had have had the run from the start of the season we would have been odds on but we had a slow start. Got ourselves sorted and then it all worked. I still believe we will go up as Champions, but i dont agree with the fact of not worrying about the FA Trophy incase we have a fixture back log. We could have a fixture back log cos of lots of postponments in 2009 what is the difference. At least this way we will make money, even get to Wembley again and keep the flow going,

We lose in the Sultana and then look what happened at Eastbourne. We need to go out and believe we will win EVERYTHING. Go for the league and cup double get some money in. Hell even get to the 4th Round of the FA Cup i mean its not gonna block us up fixture wise is it but it will give us loads of money maybe a big club and give us finances for next season or even this.

I sat back the other and thought of last season. We got to the FAT Final and the Play Off Semis in one of our greatest seasons ever and here we go again. Get ready for the rollercoaster of 2009.

Success breeds success and from that comes self belief. We are Torquay and in the Play Off Zone going into Xmas and New Year and i'll take that.

All i want for Christmas??? Championship at the end of the season please Santa!!!

Shame you did not post this on Monday Brett, you would have got some votes I'm sure.

I think the game you saw was just a bad day for Bevan, all the games I have seen him play he has looked good and pulled off some really great saves, mis punched a few times , but on the whole a keeper who I believe will be signing for us soon.

Yes playing games and keep winning has to be the best way and while I will agree about the FA cup and maybe the other FA cup, I would not want fixture backlog's of games for cups that have little value, if it effected our chance of going up.

Indeed i would not want a back log due the meaningless Shield. In certain ways i am glad we have lost in the that of course but more had a big loss. It should give us a kick up the backside to start a new winning run. I think we can beat Blackpool - no thanks to a replay though. We can beat Rubbish and Dustbins and am i right in think we are in the QF if we do???

More ponderings from bbc.

I do look at how we have been in the last season and a half and am in awe. i know we have our occasional Buckle tactical debate but we must have one of the best teams we have ever had, i know there will be alot of debaters over this. Last season was amazing this season so far in my book we are very good.

It has made me think back to the highs and lows of my years of supporting Torquay. As you know i worked at Plainmoor from 87-02 so hardly missed a single game at home in all those years. Among the times that stick in my mind if you will allow me to share with you, who knows may even open up a debate

Beating Oxford in the FA Cup 3rd Round Replay at home in 1983 i think.. my first ever pitch invasion and although i know i went to other games before this - this one is the first i remember who we played!!! Following on from that and meeting Wednesday in the 4th Round at home and Jack Charlton, hating Gary Megson for years after!!! My biggest home crowd over 7000. I also remember going to the Ian Twitchen test against Villa around this time.

John turner returning at the start of 83/84 and the arrival of John Impey from Bournemouth. Meeting Manchester City and holding them at home in the Milk Cup and the programme from that season which opened longways!!

Then the dark days of David W@@b and crowds below 1000 at least twice, once in the league.
Waking up an putting TVam on and wondering why W@@b was on the national news and realising why. Flamin 'eck. Less said the better.

Then the Dobbo year. Gerry Nardiello the forgotten man of that season. Gary Richards scoring in our only away win against Swansea City. The lead up to the last game against Crewe and the emotion of that day, never beaten.

Wrexham 6-1, what the f@@k!! Cyril Knowles, beating Spurs, White hart Lane, record away wins. Missing out on promotion, Mud, Caldwell, Dirty Scunny. Lee Sharpe and going out to wolves Near to Wembley.

Then Wembley!!! If i die now God, thank you!!!

What Since? Our many! revisits to Wembley, Bambers Right Foot, Howells goal, Duane Darby's arse, Paul Hirons beauty, Stevenage's incompetence, Uzzells injury, Fashanu's flair(ish), the ball bouncing on the line at Leyton orient when we needed one point for promotion, having to work for the Barnet game and missing it then taking a sicky at th last min to listen on radio as i was feeling so sick!!! The play off semi final at plainmoor and thrashing Scarboro and Jack being a legend for that game, Neville Southall and i could go on.

Winning and the tension at Southend and gaining promotion. A high i have expereinced. Then at Layer road next year and the low.

I have no idea why i wrote all that except for as teams go bust like Scarboro and halifax we are still very strong in the best from over the last 18 months we have ever been in, in my time anyway.

Cometh the hour cometh the man - this is our year. I believe we will win our first championship and return to the football league. I am so proud to call my self a Torquay united fan. And as you know sometimes we would have ot be in hiding in the past.

So put a some coppers away every day and make your way to Plainmoor for as much of the action as you can afford as this is what we have all wanted, a team who challenges and we are proud of...

Lets get the crowds up and be the 12th man!!!

Blimey Brett, you missed out "fighting them on the beaches" and "we will never surrender". Almost Chuchillian.........you been smoking that funny stuff mate?

I experienced most of those highs and lows too. But i'm still worried about the outcome for this season. No-one will convince me Buckle is the bees knees until he's won something. Until then he's a manager with a lot to prove after last years balls up.
