Jon, like all local plans (deliberately woolly) it states "Part of site developable for employment which could be Use Classes B1/B2/B8 or leisure uses" so construction/building appears acceptable on the site. If thats the case, it just then becomes a question of what kind of development does it not? Notwithstanding your opinion on directly elected mayors (I have no particular affection for him, nor the previous occupant, nor the concept either), that was what the apathy of the bay's voters allowed (along with the somewhat bizarre decision to become a unitary authority previously) and as such, the post of DE mayor assumes the task of setting the tiller in a particular direction. Given that, then what else would GI do apart from go directly to his office? Personally speaking, I certainly wouldnt be adverse to the club moving to somewhere like the Willows, assuming of course the stadia was built and ready for use prior to anything happening at Plainmoor. You obviously have a different opinion. You obviously have misunderstood me. I am completely open-minded as to where the club's long-term future lies. I want whatever is best for the football club. Where we differ is on what you are assuming and I am not. I certainly would not assume anything as regards safeguards. Have a look at GI's track record. The local plan does indeed refer to development on the site - which is precisely why I pointed you at the relevant page. Sticking to the plan does not rule out development at all. I certainly think better use could be made of the site than its current state. I doubt if many would disagree. I do not expect any "council money" to pay for new sporting facilities. They would have to be part of some kind of development. The meeting this week is not an attempt to leave the site untouched - which is what you appear to be saying it is. I don't have particularly strong views on directly elected mayors in general. I am sure there are plusses and minuses. I do not have any confidence in Gordon Oliver to protect Torbay's best interests - that comes from having approached him with a genuine concern and receiving an idiotic response. I believe it would be foolish to remove restrictions on the use of the site as it may lead to Gordon Oliver handing it over to a developer who will milk the value out of it and provide no sporting facilities. Have a look at Swindon. A Tory Councillor commented "I don’t really trust them not to build more houses and then not deliver the stadium and just sod off". Neither do I. You may trust Gordon Oliver to do the right thing. You may trust GI to deliver on promises. You are far more trusting than I am.

I thought it was pretty obvious that I had no particular affection for them? Also, the Lib Dem proposal calls for Nightingale Park to be ringfenced for sport and leisure, with no mention of development.

Also, the Lib Dem proposal calls for Nightingale Park to be ringfenced for sport and leisure, with no mention of development. I didn't say that you did trust them, I said that you may trust them. If you leave the way clear for Oliver and GI to do a deal, you may have no option but to hope you can trust them. The proposal (this is not a party political issue) calls for Nightingale Park "to be protected for sport and leisure AS IDENTIFIED IN TORBAY'S PLAYING PITCH STRATEGY AND THE ADOPTED TORBAY LOCAL PLAN". As we have seen, the local plan specifically refers to sporting facilities AND ENABLING DEVELOPMENT. You seem to believe that this proposal aims to forbid any enabling development, thereby killing off any chance of sporting facilities being provided. YOU ARE WRONG. What the proposal would block is Gordon Oliver's ability to sell off the asset without the sport and leisure ringfencing.

The main thing is that the information has been posted, do we still have a Supporters type thing still going?

Unfortunately there is no supporters club at TUFC. TUST and Torquay United Community Sports Trust are working together to hopefully rectify this, particularly in relation to the many junior gulls that were part of it.

As the season comes to what, hopefully, is a jubilant conclusion, the TUST board would like to bring to the attention of all supporters just how TUST has been at the forefront of many important initiatives to support the club. TUST has been instrumental in setting up and running throughout the season, the popular and successful FanZones alongside the Torquay United Community Sports Trust, the MatchDay Ambassador scheme which mirrors the Supporter Liaison Officers as required in the Football League and the TUFC Outreach Hubs. For these to function they require hours of voluntary work from TUST board members. Recently we helped initiate the Ian Twitchin memorial culminating in the official naming of the executive suite in Ian’s memory and also arranged and ran the TUFC Legends’ evening which raised much needed funds for the disabled area as well as for the TUFC Ladies’ team. Behind the scenes we have been actively involved in dialogue with both Dulwich Hamlet and Bath City in preparation for visits from the Yellow Army. On this note we are concerned about the way in which the club decided to sell the ticket allocation for the forthcoming game at Woking. Clearly the supporters who had the better chance of purchasing one were those living within reasonable driving distance of Plainmoor and with the time to go personally. For those phoning in this was pot luck. It was disappointing that there was no priority given to season ticket holders. As a board we will be discussing our response especially with a view to fans wanting to attend the Good Friday fixture at Chippenham. Finally, TUST is currently consulting on our revised Objectives and we would welcome any feedback/ criticisms before our next board meeting which is on Monday March 18. Representatives of the board will be at the Fanzone this Saturday so come along and let us know your views. TUST exists to represent all TUFC supporters - your support for us is much appreciated. www.tust.co.uk/news-minutes/march-newsletter-consultation-special

Sam Balsdon is AGAIN raising money for Torquay United’s disabled fan base. “The disabled fan base who watch Torquay United deserve the best facilities. The toilets need upgrading for these special supporters and a new roof is required over the section for the away fans. It is hoped that sufficient money can be raised to upgrade the facilities so they can watch the football in greater comfort.” Here at TUST we couldn’t agree more and will therefore donate £500 to the cause. Please visit the link attached and give what you can to this very worthwhile cause to enhance the match day experience of our fellow gulls. link

Good evening everyone!! Here is the flyer for this weeks FanZone before the home game against Eastbourne.
Potentially we could win the league this Saturday so bring your young gulls and give them memories that will last for a life time at their Football Club.
We cannot wait to see you there, the atmosphere will be amazing!
