"D" day fast aproaches and "those in the know" are typically bandying about doom and gloom. The end of the world is nigh and GI and Masters are the conspiritors who are going to shaft the club good and proper. Is this really the case - has the club reached a tipping point in its history? I think I prefer to wait and see what's disclosed on Friday rather than trust the missinformed "in the know" egotists who claim to know all on other fan sites and if we are doomed and destined for the scrap heap its basically because it makes no business or economic sense and the vast majority of the local population really don't care any more. The club as it stands is in a corner with little chance of fighting its way out. We are at the mercy of any person or organisation who wishes to take advantage the fact and the supporters that remain have little or no power to stop it from happening. Every chance we will go the same way as Hereford/ Darlington etc a shame but did we honestly care less about those clubs at the time of its demise and will anyone really care if we go the same way? I'm not really sure who that's aimed at but I don't think people have made too many outrageous claims. Especially considering the lack of information which has been forthcoming from the club. Tomorrow will be an interesting day for sure but I would think the Herald have more of an insight into things than us mere mortals and I think they have spelled it out pretty clearly. The Supporters Trust were pushed away repeatedly while GI who, I think most would agree have the most appalling record with new sporting developments, have been given several chances to get their claws into us. I'd rather go with untried and untested but well-meaning than that bunch. I hope it ends up being Pete Masters as he, at least, seems interested in football... but I fear the losers will then be Truro.

Not outrageous claims at all if true Mark but the suggestion is that the new owner are GI and Masters and it all in the worst interests of the club and supporters. My post is aimed at those who claim to be in the know who are revealing confidential information (or miss-information) and putting a completely negative slant on things without being able to substansiate the allegation. I hate rumour and inuendo it creates unease, promotes conflict and fuels the fire of dicontent though inevitable I guess in these circumstances when nothing at all is forthcoming oficially, at least until tomorrow that is when all will be revealed officially.

Not yet convinced we'll hear more tomorrow. All other 'deadlines' have slipped with a not yet ready message. After Xmas before we get the 'no choice but for this' news, maybe?

A FINAL PLEA..
The future of the club is at risk because people in Torbay are totally unaware of the crisis. We could be sold to sharks or liquidated tomorrow because the local newspaper never lets United off the back page and because the board who saved the club have run out of money and optimism. I do believe we could get a gate of 4,000 at Plainmoor on Boxing Day ( thus buying precious weeks to try to achieve anyone other than the Dog Trap ). There are three home games now in January it can still be done... IF the position were publicly and adequately aired with a positive spin instead of despair. . The Herald Express could lead a crusade to save the club as a real football club, the Board could get their belief back - just for one final month. TOGETHER we can still get out of this mire... Come on it's the 11th hour lets get it together - FANS- BOARD- PRESS. Please give us a month - a positive month- we can still do this..!!

It matters. In part for the very reasons you also state in your question.

Without a decent-sized fanbase no club can prosper. Many sides with a quarter of our gates do very nicely - its about location and good business / commercial awareness.......

Appreciate the sentiment but surely the concern here is about the way the club has deteriorated so lamentably under this regime which has alienated fans. The whole reason for the club to exist has nearly gone as the vestiges of a properly run organisation have been wiped out. We are where we are and not sure there is massive enthusiasm to continue if the journey along the road ahead shows no signs of becoming less hazardous! The only thread of optimism will be if the new regime is open in its approach and puts forward a plan backed up by actions to show supporters that there is the ambition to claw our way out of the lower reaches of this league and restore club pride and passion. Somehow I just feel this will not be the case!

BBC News now reporting deal may not now happen - Phillips seems to think things may be up in the air! Nothing new here then. Next step Administration?

Somehow I just feel this will not be the case! Hmmm Simon "under this regime". Unavoidaable unfortunately the current regime had no intention of hanging around this long. They came in as an emergency stop gap as far as I can remember and have been unable to unload their responsibility to a suitable suitor. In any case the club was well on the way to oblivion long before they arrived. I place no blame on the current Chairman and board for the club being where it is now. Sure communication could have benn better but what would that honestly achievd just more argument and unrealistic demands from fans who live on another planet pretty sure you know the ones I mean if you read all three forums...... The board and Chairman are just normal people who have stepped in and carried it on as best they could with very limited rescouces. Why should they put their personal wealth on the line because MONEY and investment combined of course with good managemnet and perhaps some radical ideas that engage the local population is all that will pull this club out of its hole. The old model is dead or should I say... "The King is dead - long live the King" Well lets just hope there is another "King", and a future for our club.
