Damn, I quite liked Racchi, and Allen is surely a better option than Ajala? Perhaps being at Yeovil made him a bit expensive for us?

Haven't seen him play, but based on match reports, is Ben Herring good enough for a team which hopes to push for promotion?

He looks a lot fitter and tactically adept than he did coming to us. That's no doubt down to the training and coaching since he joined, and possibly a change in attitude after plying his trade in the lower reaches? Was it him that was in the youth scheme at Argyle?

link - yes, former Plymouth youngster, has stood in very well behind the first choice pairing of MacDonald and Smith and not let us down. Looks very strong and showed some very nifty footwork at one point in the final home game. Fully deserves being offered a contract!

Really rated Racchi and sorry to see both him and Iffy Allen leave. Allen offered much more than Ajala last season and can only assume Allen has said he wants away. Glad we're trying with Young, although agree with Alpine's assessment that it may be academic given interest there may be in him up the A380.

Herring could join the cod army. Having checked the archives and, if they were still around, they might have a team including Percy Mackrill, Fred Fisher, John Crabbe, David Fry, Joe Rae, Mark Rowe, and Tommy Spratt.

I think most fans will be disappointed at losing both Allen and Racchi so quickly but best we know at the outset and they don't use us as a negotiating tool for going elsewhere. As it happens, 4 central midfielders on the retained list in Young, Verma, Richards and Chaney does not leave too much room left in that part of the pitch anyway if all sign although it is a big if.
Elsewhere, the list understandably includes the nucleus of the side that turned things around in most positions. Berry remains under contract due to his injury and Butler has been offered a spot so at least Alpine does not need to trouble his eyebrows! Blissett and Harrad get the opportunity to resume their striking partnership, Ajala on the wing with MacDonald and Gerring in defence. Only position not covered is the keeper and Moore may be the top Loanee Nico wants to retain.
Nervous wait for news now of contract signings on this list with a minimum of keeper, central defender, wing and striker required to supplement them.

It is a shame to see Allen and Raachi depart but no doubt they will want to pursue other options. Would have no problem if either returned in the future and good luck to them in the season ahead. Pleased that we are looking to offer contracts to the rump of decent players that proved themselves in the final quarter. It will be interesting to see how many sign on the dotted line - the more the merrier perhaps. Aside of that I am sure KN has a few targets in mind and judging by his previous signings we should be encouraged by the type of players obtained. Still a bit of a puzzle as to what is going on behind the scenes at Plainmoor though?

Still a bit of a puzzle as to what is going on behind the scenes at Plainmoor though? Not half! Still don't get why Torquay fans feel the best option is to sell to GI as opposed to TUST? The only communication has been to say that this is wonderful news for the club and for fans to remain silent so as not to affect our relegation battle. As of the 30th March David Phillips would be disappointed if the deal did not go through by the end of the season but now we are looking at the end of this month. I hope it is not the only disappointment that he suffers from this deal! Big decisions are now being made prior to the take over -very generous season ticket offer, 3 year contract for the manager, CEO position now surplus to requirements, budget for next year so players can be signed. Yet us fans still do not know why " "we will approve of this deal" and only will be told once it is signed and sealed. If so good, why the secrecy? Of course it ultimately comes down to money and capital being injected into the club but so far there seems to be little sign of that - Nico trying to drum up sponsorship money on Friday perhaps being symptomatic of this? Got a bad feeling a development opportunity is soon to raise its ugly head.......

Got a bad feeling a development opportunity is soon to raise its ugly head....... All a bit strange. Glad to see that Nico is staying, but very surprised at the three-year contract. That and the public snubbing of Geoff Harrop suggests that the GI deal may be stalling. I have expressed my doubts and fears over GI many times on here, but had sort of accepted that the die was cast and we were stuck with them. If they do drop out, how much of a corner have we already painted ourselves into? Maybe the better-than-expected crowds during the run-in will have bought enough time to look at other options. Maybe we will arrive at the point where it is acknowledged that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. Maybe it will be time to give community ownership a go.
