He takes a deep breath in...and breaths out!
So, today is the day where we can earn a few bob! Seems very quiet on both sites # then again, when doesn't it these days. It will be interesting to see if having the game on a Sunday improves the gate, though of course, how can we tell.
Would be nice for Nico to drop himself and see how we play without him, because quite frankly, if we can't beat the team in front of us today, we are really up shit street!

A break from the league and perhaps an opportunity to get a much needed win against a lower league side although they have had a good FA Cup run and will be no mugs! I should be there later and will post my thoughts.

Yes i would hope that we can find a way of somehow beating the mighty Chesham. I just hope it is not greeted as the great turning point of the season, when i suspect that we are going to struggle to gain any points from the next three or four league fixtures and we could very well find ourselves rock bottom within a couple of weeks, But hey what do i know....i just hope im wrong.

If we win then it'll just emphasise that it demonstrates the level of opposition we can compete against, and if we lose, well, ....you can guess what will be said.
Nico's detractors will have got their negative comments to suit either outcome well rehearsed in advance. A win and a few goals can't do any harm, especially to the team's confidence which must be a bit low, and we'll take any turning point we can get, but I'd agree that an F.A Trophy win against lower league opposition wouldn't signify our problems being over.
Turning to Troublemaker Reg's comments, it's going to be a low ,low gate anyway isn't it ?, and very hard to compare against what we might have got on Saturday. Drop Nico ? That's an even worse joke than usual. With last weekends game being postponed, you can't afford to go too long without a competitive game once you've had your 35th birthday. You've not got the natural fitness of a 25 year old and Kev's old experienced legs need a run out this afternoon. If we don't play Nico then it most probably means moving Dan Butler back into defence. I much prefer Butler as a midfielder and think he's done very well in that position. Then again, perhaps we've got midfielders such as Carmichael who could do with a game. I'll trust Kev to come up with the best solution and line up.

Thanks for moving my post, I didn't realise we had a thread going.

Thanks for that rjd. Although I'm sure we'd all prefer Admin to prioritise getting Floridagull back into the fold. Match reports can take second place..

One Swallow does not a summer make...
...but it would put £5000 in our empty bank account and give us some much needed confidence for the difficult up and coming games as you mention.

I think the first line of your response to my post contains a little bit of plagiarism AJ. We are all aware you are a great fan of Nico, I too have no problem with him ~ more on that in a moment. I'm sure though, that on other sites (one in particular) he is the Anti-Christ himself! I have no problem with that though...that is their opinion and they are more than welcome to shout it from the rafters if they desire to do so! As I tried to explain in a post on another thread, we are all different, we all have different opinions; if we all agreed with each other about every subject on this site there wouldn't be much point in any of us posting anything.
Back too Nico! I notice that you crossed out the word old and replaced it with the word experienced. Of course his legs are experienced...but they are also old...in football terms that is. A Freudian slip? Maybe you should sit on the couch with that friend of yours that comes round occasionally, and ask him. The problem we face at the moment of course is Carmichael. If he doesn't get games we know from past experience that the lending club gets highly pissed off. He sat on the bench last week, and although this is not a NL game he still needs to be playing; and if that means Nico has to rest his old experienced legs ~ so be it!

0. 0 ht with the mighty Chesham who have had 8 corners in the first half..anybody believing that we can win 13 of 23 league games are either taking the piss or seriously deluded 0 0 at home against Chesham is truly a shocking result in anyone's book, how the hell kn129 is still there is totally amazing,he was the present guardians choice absolutely nobody else can be blamed.simple stick with him we are up shit creek,a new low in our recent tragic history

When I type Torquay United into my smart phone the number 0 automatically pops up on the " next entry" bar.Sad but true. Hate to lose Floridagull hopefully he will soon return.

Oh dear. Wait to hear match report with trepidation. It hurts to be a TUFC fan at the moment but it wouldn't change whatever happens. Still I've got the Cheltenham match to look forward to. Wonder if they're more welcoming than the last time I was there?

A game we should have won and perhaps could have lost in injury time with Lavercombe being up to the task of tipping the ball over from a fierce shot. Half a dozen decent chances for us that may have gone in during another era but the football gods were against us with Nico's 3 yard effort in particular somehow screwing off their diving defender parallel to the goal line and out past the post. Nine times out of ten that would have been in.....
First half highlights were a couple of chances for us with a header from Wright? Just looping over the crossbar and an overhead kick diverted to the top right corner of the goal only just palmed wide by their keeper. Richards was injured early on which was balanced by their defender having to be subbed. The ref was keen on his cards giving both sides 2 yellows in the first period with McDonald unlucky after getting the wrong side of a bouncing ball and trying to muscle back in to get a booking...
The second half saw us raise our game for a time and a good break came out to Briscoe on the overlap but his cross was criminally hit over from near the penalty spot. Briscoe was then rightly subbed for Shepherd who was able to cause problems with both his pace and trickery although the end product was not always on the button. It was from this wing that the cross came to Nico on the plate that was somehow kept out. The resulting corner then was somehow was saved after a Gerring header from close range. Later in the half a Wright header was only just a fraction wide. We also had a half decent penalty shout after Butler was impeded at the far post...
So on another day we would have won this game but the fact is we didn't. In spells, we played well but not consistently enough. Gerring almost scored but made a couple of mistakes in the first half, missing the ball to let their winger in and heading the ball out only to the edge of the area where it was only just volleyed wide could have put us in trouble. Briscoe did not create much on the wing and his lack of pace is a liability here.....
