Alan Welsh, I can still remember the goal he scored at Plymouth on the 5th October 1968, a 20,810 crowd saw United beat Argyle 2-1. Welsh picked up the ball in midfield, dribbled through the opposing defence and clipped in the winner! Those were the days!

Yes, I went to Leicester twice to see that match, it helped that I was at university just up the road at Sheffield but my meagre student funds were stretched by having to fork out for the two journeys. First time, I seem to remember getting as far as the station concourse to find out that the game was off.

I was at Bedford Teacher Training College and I persuaded a group of us to go up on the Saturday. We got as far as the station before finding out it was off. Went on to Nottingham to watch Forest in a cup match.
Happy days.
