Just hope we have not crossed the rubicon into the land of oblivion. In all truth being defeated after playing at least in a passionate way is bad enough, serving up an abject performance is downright inexcusable - just what the hell is going on with our club?

I can remember being on the pop-side many moons ago and being 3 goals down to Lincoln in the FA Cup! I remember turning to my mate at that stage and saying 'We can win this'. What on earth has happened to those days and those type of players who were actually proud to wear a Torquay shirt?

Oh my Stubbsy and my Northcott long ago!
You need to be familiar with cricket history to see why that is relevant.

Sounds as bad as last season's 'performance' in the cup at Aldershot. The only consolation for me is, unlike last year, I wasn't there to witness it!

Yet another low point in the club's history. Another sad day for English football.Best we can hope for now is survival in the National League. Hate to think where it is all going to end. Hard to be optimistic at this point.

Gutted. Once again.
Still think that the improvement under Nico, from the dire situation that he inherited, is going to be in small increments. It's a team game and he needs to build his team. Some of the teams that have beaten us (apart from having bigger playing budgets) have been playing together for 2 or 3 seasons.
Keep the faith - dream yellow!

So abject was the performance that the chairman has issued a statement apologising! link

I suppose the relevance to yesterdays game was the score line of 3:0! In the days of Stubbs & Co being 3:0 down wasn't game over...unlike the team we have at the moment!
Of course my memories of Stubbs are just that, the sad thing is though, the way TUFC are at the moment, how long before they are just a memory also!

Lincoln? Cave, Barnard 2, Rudge? Was that who scored? My memory has always been crap. I didn't say that Stubbs scored in that game by the way!

I was at that game. If I remember correctly Bob Glozier was badly injured and hardly played any more games for Torquay. So sad about Saturdays result. We seem to find new ways of avoiding potential financial windfalls. We seem to be not up for the games which are so important to the survival of the club. If the players own future and financial well being is not a motivational factor, then what is. I can understand a shock defeat in the FA Cup, goodness we have gone through enough of them, but by all accounts a lack lustre display is unforgivable. Incidentally, we are the only League team to be knocked out by a non league team in the FA Cup proper, three years in a row.

Four seasons in a row actually. 1991/92 Farnborough (A) 3-4 1992/93 Yeovil (H) 2-5 1993/94 Sutton (H) 0-1 1994/95 Enfield (H) 0-1

I see that Basingstoke beat Whitehawk 3 - 1 last night. We certainly seem to be giving teams that confidence boost....
