This is such an obvious tactic that I can't understand why not every team does it. Don Revie's Leeds United were famous exponents and they used to win matches quite frequently, didn't they?
Last night I was at Bramall Lane where Colchester's players all crowded around Sheffield United's whenever the Blades had a throw in, but when it was the other way round Colchester were simply allowed to chuck the ball to a man in space. Result: two Col U goals originated from throw-is; one SUFC's, the other their own. Having said that they won for another reason as well, which is that they were the better side by miles.
Best moment of the night was probably seeing on the TV at half time that Torquay were winning 1-0. I might have bloody known what would happen in the end.
