Time for one final game of the season yesterday. This was the South Devon League Division Two title decider between Ashburton and Foxhole United played in suitably pleasant and rustic surroundings at Chuley Hill just up from the A38. Last match of the season for both sides; level on points; Ashburton having the superior goal average. Foxhole two up at half-time; two quick goals for Ashburton: two more for Foxhole; a late reply from Ashburton. Ashburton 3 Foxhole United 4. Foxhole United. Like the colours:

Always used to be quite a tough place to go, Foxhole United. Did they have the Division Two trophy ready to present?

Alas no sign, Hector, of the gleaming trophy.
A well-contested contest and really quite sporting. There was, however. a ditty sung about monetary payments shortly after the final whistle.
I took this to be a continuation of the "Cashburton" observation I'd seen earlier on the South Devon Soccer Forum. I wouldn't be able to comment. Not that anybody is surely doing anything wrong. It may not amount to much more than the extra petrol money needed to get up that steep hill.
Indeed, although there were several personal tussles on the field yesterday, nothing compared to the stubbornness of the 4WD driver who refused to reverse down the hill. I doubt if the lanes could cope if Ashburton ever made it to the heights of the SW Peninsula League.
More photographs are available on the site of TFF's former proprietor who is getting quite a name for himself in SDL circles.

Time for one final game of the season yesterday. I thought you would have been at the big derby match - Torquay Town v WW3. You would have bumped into a man named Roach there too - Ant bagged yet another hat-trick.

If anyone from outside South Devon has a burning desire to see the final South Devon League tables in print - and I'm sure there are many of you - all you have to do is seek out page 29 of today's Non League Paper.
There you'll see that the top two divisions were won by Buckland Athletic Reserves and Buckland Athletic Thirds respectively.
The mighty Watcombe Wanderers could finish no higher than runners-up in the Premier Division (although they bagged the Herald Cup). The reserves won division three; the thirds division five.
For those with an historical bent, Torquay Town finished third in division five. Poor old Babbacombe (Corinthians) Reserves accrued the meanest points total of all, a princely minus three.
There's an AFC Staverton but, mercifully perhaps, no FC United of Broadhempston.
For obvious reasons the Non League Paper offer does not apply to readers living in Florida.

For those with an historical bent, Torquay Town finished third in division five. Good to see that Torquay Town in their first season with their storming end of season run were granted promotion to division four of the South Devon League.
