Brilliant to see good old Berkeley Hollyer, corporation publicity manager, flying the flag for Torquay's attractions. Come on you Lutonians, get yourselves back here for a holiday. Come here to live. Please.
A cracking package of news and views from Black and White. It was clearly the time of year when the Devon Professional Cup loomed large. Straightforward in those days: Torquay, Plymouth and Exeter. Everybody else was playing local football.
Another one of those footnote triallists: AV Randell, an "East Coast amateur". Such a description would have covered all levels of football and all manner of places. No checking out his credentials using a fancy piece of futuristic equipment.
A poignant collection on behalf of the victims of the Gresford colliery disaster. 266 lives lost.
An interesting debate about the choice between being more satisfied with a win "at any cost" and seeing your team lose but playing good football. Nothing new there but, thankfully, no mention of "winning ugly" which seems to have become something of a parroted cliche.
A "mis-spelt word competition". Is this deliberate? Or an ironic comment about frequent mistakes? Maybe TQ1 should do the same to retain my attention. I struggle to read much of it to be honest.
I like the honorary members barometer. How is TUST doing by comparison?
And an advert for Pascoe's Devonshire Hogs Pudding. There wouldn't have been even the most distant of thoughts about shirt sponsorship in 1934. But wouldn't DEVONSHIRE HOGS PUDDING have looked great? It might still do even though it may not sit happily with NHS obesity warnings.

Thank you gullone - great to see stuff like this.
Entertainment AND a good result for Magpies fans - we won this game 6-2, following the 5-2 over Cardiff in our previous home game.
Still not enough to coax sufficient numbers of fans along to stop us having to sell our best players. Steele and Stabb soon off to Notts County, Don Welsh to Charlton later that season.
