Probably the most eagerly anticipated match of the season with the legendary Cap'n Manse and his pirate crew sailing into town looking to plunder three points! As it is for us, effectively a local Derby, may well be the largest crowd of the season as well!

The next few games will determine our season I suspect - a few good results will put smiles back on faces!

Best team won without doubt and should and could have been many more as we struggled in the conditions especially in the second half when we were playing and struggling against strong wind and driving rain. There was no way back in all honesty after they went two up even though we managed to get their keeper to punch one into his own net. Men against boys is a term often used in such circumstances and Rovers have far more experience in their squad more able to cope with the heavy ground and swirling wind. Not only that they looked far more organised across the back and in midfield than we ever did as we toiled and toiled all afternoon to break them down with little effect. The pitch again is of major concern as it cut up badly after our first real rain for weeks, playable today but a few periods of the wet stuff and once again we will have cancellations. Not the type of pitch either that suits the way we want to play with the Courtney Camerons' and Toby Ajalas' unable to hurt the opposition as they can do on firmer, flatter and more predictable surfaces. Cannot really fault the effort but this was game that once again put our shortcomings under the microscope - lightweight and inexperience in midfield- Young did what he could but there just wasn't enough support or enough know how around him. Seabright coming in again to attempt to wrestle the No 1 Jersey from Martin Rice failed to impress and is perhaps similar in ability and shortcomings struggling to dominate crosses and maybe at fault for their second from a corner hat looked all to easy for the opponent to head for goal. A more physical presence in this department is a must if we hope to progress at ANY time in the future. Cameron showed some good glimpses of his former form but was worked well by their defenders who often doubled and trebled up from Sinclair or some bloke called Mansell in midfield and on a heavy, sticky pitch it was always going to be hard work for a player of his type. Duane Offori was great and at least an outlet in the first half though second half against the wind none of the forwards were getting any service and what was reaching them wasn't sticking with any second ball quickly dealt with by the Rovers defence. Bowman hardly had a look in all day and was completely ineffective and well marked out of the game. Levi Ives still has plenty to learn and although skinned and caught out of position by the dangerous Gosling who was continually invited inside for shooting practice, a number of occasions he stuck to his task and lasted the pace well though with a little more accuracy the scor line could and should have been more embarrassing. Pearce worries me he does some strange things at times and can look a liability Mac Donald was fine for the most part and committed as always and Durall Berry I thought was outstanding and the pick of the defense and my MOM. The midfield is again my main worry with the lack of an older head we so often lose out and get exposed from our own forward moves that break down Courntney Richards is gaining experience and battles well but often miss cues passes in a very open midfield. That along with how we are set up across the pitch played into Rovers hands and Hargreaves had very little on the bench to change things - he played all his cards but the damage was done and the disallowed goal at the end would have been the ultimate injustice after Rovers second half dominance. Not looking forward to the return fixture in a weeks time - more of the same unfortunately our only hope is beating the weaker teams of the division - Oh hang on a minute!

I really don't want to moan...but that was really, really poor. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong because so much of it was - a complete lack of creativity going forward, dominated in midfield, and incredibly sloppy and open at the back. Ives is probably the only one to come out of it with credit as he had a good game (for a youngster). MacDonald also made a few important tackles. The rest were all complete horseshit or shut down
It's no exaggeration to say Rovers should have scored about 10 - they missed sitter after sitter. On another day we'd have been given an absolute pasting. Our goal ordinarily would've been ruled out for a foul on the keeper - one of the few times the appalling refereeing display worked in our favour, which also included Seabright (who looked completely devoid of confidence and not up to it at this level) clattering a Rovers attacker on the edge of the box and nothing being given. I hope the fact that his name is Bromley isn't an omen
I appreciate the manager has very little to work with at the moment, but I'd like to know why he thought bringing Yeoman and Benyon on as an attacking substitution was in anyway likely to work. It was pretty obvious what the problem was - we were playing 4-4-2 again and being completely dominated in midfield and the space between there and our defence. The solution should have been to bring on an extra midfielder, be it Cruise or Yeoman (who seems in the process of being converted to a central midfielder - I think they call it desperation). And of course Benyon strayed offside when he could have snatched the luckiest point in the club's history...
Apparently it was better than Braintree, though. I dread to think how bad that was then. If we sell Young, we're screwed, regardless of how many player s that allows us to bring in - that never works out. We would fall apart

absolutely ashamed of our lot once again today.2-1 loss flattered us,we are going down hill rapidly on and off the pitch, its painful to see.Hargreaves has had long enough now to prove himself, frankly he isnt doing it.Rumours abounding today that thea has had enough, who could blame her? so have we.A clueless manager,a clueless team, and a club run by people who havent a clue.My mate and i sat in the disabled area in lashing rain and wind, jeez he deserves some kind of medal for that, having to witness our full time professionals fail to earn there corn, yet again.Rovers wont get an easier 3 points given to them again like today.A day that will live long in the memory for all the wrong reasons. No doubt the rose tinters will be on later to tell us to keep the faith, well you will be in the minority for sure, most are now getting urinated off with the direction the club is going. Some very dark days ahead so tighten the seatbelts. And its not inconceivable the way the club is now being run that conference south footy will arrive in the next few years
