The BBC has launched a searchable Radio Times archive covering the years 1923 to 2009.

Interesting to search through for TUFC references, although of course they were not allowed to announce MOTD fixtures in advance.
The "clue" for 16/3/68 didn't really give a lot away - Torquay v Bury would be a very long shot:
22.10: MATCH OF THE DAY
The recorded highlights of a League soccer match brought to you each Saturday
KENNETH WOLSTENHOLME reports, with outside broadcast cameras, from a Football League ground
Television presentation by Alec Weeks
Today's match will be announced at the end of Grandstand
The clue for 31/10/70 gave a bit more to go on:
22.10: Match of the Day
Introduced by David Coleman
Match No 1 comes from a famous Northern First Division ground. Commentator
KENNETH WOLSTENHOLME
TV presentation by JOHN MCGONAGLE
Match No 2 is from the opposite end of the country featuring consistent clubs in another Division of the Football League.
Commentator BARRY DAVIES
TV presentation by ALEC WEEKS
Match no. 1 must be Newcastle v Manchester United, so what could match no.2 be? Torquay v Fulham?
What's this on 28/4/82?
18.55: LONDON Up a Gum Tree
with David Bellamy. Five films exploring the strange landscapes of Australia, where evolution has produced many surprises.
2: The Great Barriers
S WEST A Game Called Survival Dick Woodacre reports on how TORQUAY UTD is now prepared to guarantee professional soccer in the town for at least another 12 months.
Dick Woodacre with a thirty minute programme on Torquay United? Who remembers that one? Was 28 minutes of it Dick going on about Plymouth Argyle? A relief for all that the club "is now prepared to guarantee professional soccer in the town for at least another 12 months". What odds it surviving another 33 years?
Going back before the days of TV is interesting. Some cracking regional sports programmes before the War. I wonder what the newly-appointed Mr Steward had to say about his team on 10/9/38. I expect that young Chelston would have tuned his wireless in for this one.
