No surprise, Forest Green have scored despite Parkin clearly impeding MacDonald

Disappointing not so much the result but another sending off. Refs are waving reds all over the place theses days whats happened to our beloved game? Penalty decisions for handballs in the box now are so common now even if the ball is drilled at a player and has no chance of reacting and the hard challenges of old usually end up with a booking. Another loss but come on. the start we've had was totally unexpected so lets back off a little with over the top criticism as witnessed not on here but on another popular fans website. Young inexperienced players giving their best - you cannot ask for more and I have certainly been entertained by the style of play this season challenging at the top or not.
Patience people. it will come good again Im certain though I'm not sure what sort of side we will be able to put out against another strong contender in Wrexham this Saturday.

A disappointing result, we didn't play particularly well and looked tired, second to most things. We scored a good goal after a lovely pass from Richards and a smart finish from Duane, however it never looked like a lead we would hold. Young came close in the second half with a lovely shot that was very well saved by the keeper but that, and the goal, was about it. Pearce and MacDonald looked solid but Tonge was poor, lost count of the times he gave the ball away. Richards was good until he was given his marching orders, Young was quiet and Cameron was, well I forgot he was on the pitch. Bowman and Duane worked hard. Despite the loss, its hard to be too critical and the players, for many anyway, are still on a learning curve. As said I felt they did look jaded tonight. A word on the ref...annoyingly inconsistent. From where I was stood Richard's bookings came from fairly innocuous tackles. The ref couldn't get the second yellow out quickly enough yet when Hughes dived in on one of our players later, no card. He was later booked for throwing an elbow at MacDonald. I wonder if we are already getting a reputation for indiscipline and refs are acting accordingly? Truth is there was not a particularly bad tackle all night yet the ref still saw fit to book 5 and produce a red! On another note, CH appeared to watch the entire second half from the entrance door to the changing rooms, rather than the dug out. Anybody know why? Was he also sent off?? Anyway on to Saturday with hopefully a rested side and eleven men on the pitch at full time.

Radio Devon thought he had talked to the referee about inconsistency as they left the pitch at half-time and been given a yellow card too, however they were hoping someone nearer the action could enlighten them as well. We'll have to see if the OS says anything I guess!

Don't they know either?

There won't be many words from me about last's night game. I've said enough this week. I'll settle for one word: poor. It was one of those nights when good players were off-form and not-so-good players really struggled. Fair result.
But I didn't notice anything untoward about Chris Hargreaves' departure from the bench. If something happened it was probably at half-time. He hadn't been particularly emotive in the first half. I'd mainly noticed the improbability of the shape of his footwear. Outrageously pointed; I'd certainly come a cropper in anything like that. In the second half his touchline space was taken by Kenny Veysey who was wearing rather more sporting attire. I'd just assumed Chris wanted to keep his shoes clean. Lee Hodges and Kenny were taking a fair number of phone calls in the second half; I don't think these were about doing a spot of shopping on the way home. I even suspected there was a "Send Ricey up for the corner. Love you loads x" text in the final minute. Sadly it didn't arrive in time.
A few Torquay fans scattered in the main stand. Two behind me possessing South Devon accents of a kind which will soon need a preservation order. Sadly you'll not be hearing anything like that again in a few years. I don't trust the younger generation to end up speaking in such fashion when they're in their sixties.
And an unexpected meeting with a cheery South Devonian in the car park. I was acting rather absent-mindedly and furtively - taking a few pictures and contemplating disappearing down a dark alleyway past a steward - when a car was being directed into a parking space. I was sluggish in my movements and was nearly taken out by the reversing vehicle. The passenger leapt out shouting "careful it might be one of ours!". It was Keyberry. I recognised him immediately because he looks like a man of sporting prowess. In a very Newton Abbot way of course.
There will be pictures later of dusk at the New Lawn. And a quiz within a few weeks for my new mate.

Barty, I imagined our first post TFF carvery encounter to have been outside a building such as a library, not you falling out of a hedge resembling a man in a drunken stupor! Regardless of your actions, a pleasure to meet you again
