It has been a hectic but successful month with the team looking to bounce back from the solitary defeat in September with a tough trip away to a side that only lost to an injury time header to league leaders Barnet on Saturday! One blessed relief is that they are the third nearest club to us in this division and arguably the second easiest to get to - just a pity that it is a mid week game as I am sure many more would have made this journey. link - nice preview on their site giving all their team news as well as a look at our side! I think the names that are instantly recognizable are Lee Hughes and Jon Parkin, both of whom have 4 goals to their name. A good side and no gimmes for this one I'm afraid. As for our team, we of course have both Downes and Ajala suspended for this one but arguably will have two of our best or even the best players to slot in with Pearce and Cameron. I don't think anyone one dreamt that when Pearce limped off in the PSF that it would take this long to start (assuming he does of course!) Cameron will take up his role on the left which gives us some balance. Whether Briscoe is fit to sit on the bench is an unknown. Hutchings may be called up into the squad and I am sure will want some involvement this season if he is to continue his progression. Coyy!

I'm afraid I don't share my friend Simon's confidence in this game. We've been churning out wins without really setting the world alight lately, but the defeat at Telford would have knocked all the confidence and thoughts of invincibility out of the young players! Of course I've been wrong before (July 18th 1976 if my memory serves me well) but I see nothing but a damn good thrashing for us this evening!

Tough assignment tonight, we will see if we have that 'bouncebackability'!! I am predicting a draw. In any event, a relatively easy journey back for me which is always good for midweek games.

Our most positive performances have been high energy, high tempo attacking and getting forward to hurt teams at every opportunity. Tiredness for a young squad who have, for the most part, never had such and intensive two months is bound to be having an affect. Thought we looked leggy against Dover and the high tempo game just wasn't there though we got the breaks that day. At Telford it was a similar story only this time we had a very poor keeper performance and we got punished. If Rice had been on his game it would have been another three points I just hope he has recovered and is back to the form that brought him all the accolades. Its a pressure match for both teams and I suspect the spoils will be shared.

I assume Briscoe will be added to the 16 - he was "17th man" on Saturday.
Minimum change would be Pearce and Cameron in for Downes and Ajala - will be interesting to see if Pearce or MacDonald plays left centre back.
I see Ives replacing Cruise soon but would keep Cruise in tonight as we'll need all the experience we can get.
I expect the sub defender role will be between Ives (Cruise having to move to the centre if needed) and Hutchings. Given the nous and brute strength of FGR's front two, let's hope MacDonald and Pearce both last 90 minutes.
I would see Chapell at risk. In a straight swap, Briscoe could come in or Wakefield could play wide right.
I wouldn't rule out resting Ofori-Acheampong, with a view to giving him a fifteen minute run at the end to shake things up.
If so, Briscoe or Yeoman could come in up front (is Benyon fit?) or we could start in the shape we used at Lincoln with Wakefield added as a third central midfielder with Briscoe (or Chapell) and Cameron playing either side of Bowman.

Briscoe is surprisingly starting! Yeoman, Wakefield, Hutchings, Chappell and Seabright on the bench.
