Guildford City had just won the Southern League so Haydn Green would have been an ambitious appointment. Those were great times for the Surrey club - a couple of big games around then attracted crowds of nearly 10,000. Haydn Green later managed Swansea and Watford. Maybe he could have been a fine Torquay United manager but, come what may, war would have intervened in the process. Who exactly was AH Longhurst? And, after being involved with Leeds United, what was his motive in joining the Plainmoor board? Coming from South London he was surely a property developer with only one thing in mind.Well maybe, maybe not. R.E.Narracott resigning as vice-chairman. The name is familiar: www.flickr.com/photos/bolckow/9361832243/sizes/c/in/photostream/
