Games coming thick and fast now, three before I return to the fold again. Grimsby, a difficult one followed by Woking. I just hope we don't beat Grimsby, get a good crowd in at our place, then lose to Woking! Of course if we beat all three then my prediction is looking pretty damn good. As Pete has mentioned, our players and manager will be under close scrutiny now, and how long we can keep hold of our midfield duo is anyone's guess. If we do sell our players I think Hargreaves will hold out for real money, but with the board somewhat cash strapped, I can see pressure brought to bear on him, so I can see us selling players off left right and centre for the usual peanuts!
Oh, and by the way Simon, I was working at my Mother in laws today...is she miserable!

I was there last night and what a terrific performance that was. Not the free flowing football from Nuneaton match but in my mind a much better one. From the first whistle to the last the eleven players on the pitch (no subs used) never gave Chester an inch to move in. Pressuring them into mistakes and then hitting them with the pace we have.
Yes we should have been two up early on and may have been a different game then but credit due to them all. Chester never gave up trying and are better than Nuneaton but cannot remember Rice having any shots of note all night.
Finally the officials....what planet were they on?? With the sending off incident we were expecting a straight red but out came a yellow and then a red but it was the wrong player and the whole ground went mad, all players and their management having a go and after checking with his lino stopped Charnock from walking but then gave the culprit a yellow. Then you have our players having a go at the bloke! He then booked one of theirs and Richards for us for absolutely nothing challenges. We laugh now but someone could have been sent off because of an earlier good challenge.
However the officials had no bearing on this win for us it was fully earned and despite travelling up on the day put in a terrific shift! I presume they will be granted an overnight this weekend.

A chance to make comparisons tonight with the early season pace setters Barnet playing at Dover. On BT Sport 1 live - for those without a subscription I will do a mini report at some point after the match.

Barnet certainly setting the pace at the moment.

If you travelled up from Torquay (or anywhere else for that matter) on a Tuesday evening, then I take my hat off to you. I believe we are travelling up the day before the Grimsby match!

Finished 9-0. Some really good finishes and credit to Clevedon who didn't give up.

Yes went from here, about a dozen off us on a minibus. Long trek and nearly 4am before we got back but the performance/result made it worth while. Oddly enough been to the youth match tonight and that's now two games in 48 hours where the opposition in blue/white stripes haven't had a shot on target

A brief view of Barnet. Looked strong all across the pitch with one or two players in particular catching the eye. Was impressed with their young left wing back Johnson who got up and down the pitch really well and was directly involved in two of their goals. Barnet in truth looked a class apart in most departments and, make no mistake, will be challenging for he top places come crunch time. Martin Allen, who reminds me a sixties East End mobster is a bit of task master and has instilled some real discipline into his side and generally speaking their squad looks to be of a pretty high standard for this level with Akindi and former loanee Charlie McDonald spearheading the front line. Having said that they showed some vulnerability in defense with Dover spawning a number of good chances when they were still well in the match. The gulf in quality eventually shone through and even when MacDonald went off injured they had the luxury of bringing on another nippy, energetic striker in Luke Gambin who promptly delivered with a couple of well taken goals. With experienced and much travelled defender N'gala marshaling a solid back line and a competent and experienced keeper Graham Stack in between the sticks they look strong opposition and have yet to concede away from home. Do we a have the players to compete against arguably one of the best squads in the division? Of course we do! Its a big question but one things for sure Greavsy will have to get his tactics spot on when we meet them for the first time this season in November.

Thanks for that Pete, saw bits and pieces of the match myself and it seemed to be the crosses that did for Dover!

Thanks for the overview Pete. They sound like a decent side and they certainly have a good manager. Currently the side to beat by the sounds of it...
