The biggest game of the season so far? Well, we have played them once already - a rare win up at a windy Sixfields courtesy of a fantastic second half performance from Jordan Chapell and others. At the time, it seemed like a good win - now it seems like an important win, but one over a side that is nowhere near the level it was at last year. Aidy Boothroyd's choice of changing the midfield, ditching Luke Guttridge and Ben Harding in favour of a supposed "upgrade", has failed spectacularly and the Cobblers are arguably favourites for relegation despite their size and status as a former top flight club. One win in their last seven competitive matches has seen them slowly cut adrift at the bottom, and defeat against us on Saturday, at the hands of former player Chris Hargreaves, could leave them in serious danger and in desperate need of a new manager
Line-up vs York:
Gk Matt Duke Def Kevin Amankwaah Def Lee Collins Def Ben Tozer Def Sean McGinty Mid Darren Carter Mid Ishmel Demontagnac Mid Gary Deegan Mid Matty Blair For Antonio German For Hallam Hope
Subs: Dean Snedker (Gk), Paul Reid (Def), m Harriott (Mid), JJ Hooper (For), Danny Emerton (For), David Moyo (For), Ivan Toney (For)
Head-to-head:
Northampton wins - 50 Torquay wins - 45 Draws - 28
Last Torquay win: Northampton 1-2 Torquay (Blyth 30; Chapell 72, 78), League Two, August 2013
Last Torquay win at Plainmoor: Torquay 1-0 Northampton (Ellis 75), League Two, January 2012
Last Northampton win: Northampton 1-0 Torquay (Taylor 81), League Two, February 2006
Last Northampton win at Plainmoor: Torquay 1-3 Northampton (Alsop 6; Bedeau 54; Williamson 70; McGleish 76), Football League Trophy, November 2004
Last Northampton league win at Plainmoor: Torquay 1-2 Northampton (Bedeau 17; Forrester 26; Howard 40), Division Three, May 2000

Probably the one game we didn't want at this time. A great win last Saturday and playing the one team below us-banana skins all over the Plainmoor pitch! Of course, if we play like we did last Saturday and get an early goal, I would imagine an easy three (six) pointer. How many times has it happened though...an expectant crowd (probably some hundreds up on Knills last game in charge) a new era in the history of TUFC and...
One thing we mustn't do is lose this game because if we do and Northampton win their game in hand, all the jubilation of last weekend will have been for nothing...2:0 to the good guys!

I wouldn't worry too much Reg, I really can't see the game being played at all unless we use the much drier swim Plainmoor facility! swimmingpool Is drier than the pitch!

I thought all the banana skins would have kept the pitch dry aus! To be honest, I wouldn't be sad to see this game called off, then with Oxford beating Charlton on Tuesday night and playing in the next round of the cup on Saturday, that would be another match called of. True, with all the games going on we might be even closer to the bottom and further away from the clubs above us, but if we weren't...

heavy rain forecast in the bay overnight so as aussie says game will be very doubtful,no pitch whatever drainage would survive the recent deluges we have had

Indeed it is a problem for the club, and now with high expectations of a fairly decent crowd and a chance to put a few more Sheckles in the bank the bloody match looks like being called off. Then it becomes a Tuesday night match (normally less income) and who knows what the expectations will be at that time. Karma is a bugger!

Ha, just got up and it is NOT raining, ground reasonably dry and appears that a lot of the heavy rain forecasted passed to the West of us overnight! Some more rain is predicted today but not all day and hopefully the game will be on!!!!!

BBC says sunny, windy and showery until about 1. Heavy rain between 1 and 3.
Makes an early decision on the pitch very difficult. Probably playable right now, but may be dodgy by 3.

I reckon this one could just be on with the next band of rain passing through early on Tuesday which is almost drought conditions compared to recent events!
Would be a nice symmetry for our new manager to make his home debut in this fixture with Hargreaves initially approached by Northampton and our old manager now number 2 there! Of course, our respective league positions adds some needle - if we win could see us out of the bottom two and leave Northampton in more than serious danger and possibly right on the edge of the abyss.

Saw this too loyal. Sad really the guy is still being selected for them as well. They just need someone to blame I guess. Desperate for this to be on we need another three points and they need three to keep in touch and for certain Wilder will have them up for this, laying it on the line that if they get beat their season would more or less be over. This will be an almighty battle, survival of the fiftest , more important we win this one than our outside chance on Saturday but then football and form can surprise at the best of times so who knows. It could all rest on another last day of the season result when we play tumbling Wycombe. That's how we usually do isn't it?

It is the Torquay way - we don't do midtable and how many times has it come down to that final game? - last 3 seasons for starters,,,,
