Congratulations to our women's team, a real backs to the wall performance against a physically stronger and more experienced Exeter side.
Kept out nerve in the penalty shoot-out and Sasha Mole our stand in goalie , deservedly voted player of match.
Exeter looked a bit shell-shocked at the end!

Caught the end of what looked like a decent streaming effort from the Devon FA.
Score said 0-0 when I tuned in but then changed to 0-1 in play, so I probably just missed the Exeter goal.
On screen stats said that Exeter had 15 shots, 7 on target. Torquay 1 shot, 1 on target - presumably the 97th minute penalty.
Good team spirit to pull through against the odds.
By the way, has it been mentioned on here that Buckland pulled their side out of the league this season? That allows Torquay to take its place as the leading team in South Devon - back to where it was before loads of players left to join Buckland.

p.s. It was very good to see the two clubs’ Supporters’ Trusts coming together to sponsor the game. Full of admiration for how that club has rebuilt itself after its near-death experience. Still nice to beat them though!

Looking very good for their men’s team just 3 points needed from the last 3 games for promotion so a pretty good consolation prize if they can avoid the play offs again…..

The women had their awards night at Plainmoor on Wednesday after a very successful season where they have come on in leaps and bounds and quite a few people watching them at the final for the first time were quite impressed. So congratulations and a big shout out to: link - Danni Wyatt - Club Player of the year and Katie Barriball- best goal of the season - against Royal Wooten Bassett which I saw and reported on above! link - Ellie Bishop - 22 goals from the wing and golden boot winner link - Laura Lewis - most improved player and Beth Everson voted player of the season by the fans and on the other wing to Ellie Bishop. Not shown in these pics but think Ocean Latto got young player of the season and certainly impressed in the full back role. Not quite the end of watching women’s football this season for me as it is the women’s European Championships in July and have tickets with my son, daughter, sister and nephew for England versus Austria which is the opening game of the tournament at Old Trafford on July 6 and is also my birthday!. Also have 2 tickets for the final taking my Mrs up on the 31st of July to Wembley with logistics made easier by having family at both locations where I can stay over and get the tram or underground to the stadia.

link - really encouraging to see our club working with the women’s team a lot more with them now wearing the same kit and incentivising sponsorship with amongst other things giving out tickets to sit in the family stand on match day. £100 package which will go towards their training kit is actually both very reasonable and affordable and I’m sure many on here will consider supporting them…..

It’s great to see the women’s team getting more recognition and help from the club. The Torquay United Yellows walking football team won the double this season (the county wide Taking Care Division and the County Cup). They are also progressing well in the National Cup competition. Hopefully the team and their coaches from TUCST will get the same recognition and help. At the end of the day we’re all part of one community supporting Torquay United.

More support from the club for the women's team is timely given the Euro's start next week, which will raise the profile of the women's game even further-especially if England do well.
All games live on BBC and several games already sold-out.

Each tournament seems to be getting bigger and bigger and as may have mentioned before I am going to the opening game (my birthday!) and to the final. Will start a thread on this soon…..
