Sheep on the pitch at Taunton? I'm assuming that's at Priory Park just downstream from the cricket ground. That's the place which later became the town's rugby ground remaining in use until around a dozen years ago.
Taunton United was the forerunner to the present Taunton Town which dates from the late 1940s. I wonder if United's time in the Southern League in the 1920s and 1930s was as big as football ever was in Taunton. And, with Torquay United recruiting players from far-and-wide ninety years ago, were Taunton doing likewise?
As for the present Taunton Town, it's all been rather stagnant in recent years. Mind you, they've had some decent results these past two months.
