I like the cover of this Reading programme. Quite modern for its time; the 4d price tag almost comes as a surprise.
Inside there's a couple of forthcoming attractions at Elm Park, both involving...er...Binfield who now play in the Hellenic League.
Quite rightly there's an advert from Huntley & Palmers; this one for Ginger Nuts. But nothing for Sutton's Seeds?
News of Reading's pools operation is a real sign of those days. 13,000 members but they want 20,000.
Less familiar Torquay name: Mike Eckersall. Signed from Mossley he went back that way to play for Stockport County.

Just imagine making your way to that 1961 match at Elm Park on one of these: I remember seeing trolleybuses in Reading, Bournemouth, Cardiff and West London as a child. Here’s a peculiar claim: I’m pretty certain I may have even seen one on my first ever away trip, which was to Reading, in 1968. That's plausible since research indicates that trolleybuses operated in Reading until around six months after that game. Pictures taken at the trolleybus museum at Sandtoft: www.sandtoft.org.uk
