There's a little Capital Gulls double header and 2008 Crimbo trip coming up next Tuesday, December 9th. At the moment it's Ealinggull , The Barnet1 , Capitalgull and myself ; but we have room for up to three more if anyone cares to join us. What are we doing? Racing at Fontwell Park (1st race 12.40) followed by the Gulls at Eastbourne (19.45) of course! TB1 and myself will be leaving North London around 9.30 am and picking up Ealing & Capital (who lives in Shepperton) en route. I've got room for seven in my car, hence the offer to anyone who wants to join us to PM me. Rules of the house: Football talk banned before and especially during racing. Racing talk banned once it's over and during the match. Come armed with jokes about sex, body parts, sex, bodily functions and ................sex. Strict adherence to our "Last Of The Summer Wine" dress code is mandatory. Cultivate a love of reggae, soul, jazz fusion and Aiiiiiiiiiiiimy Whinehouse! To anyone who hasn't been, Fontwell Park is a little jewel, seemingly half the size of Newton Abbot with the back straight as close to the stands as the winning post is at the bigger tracks like Newbury. So small they have to run "Figure of Eight" to fit in a chase course. Situated just outside Bognor Regis at the junction of the A27 and the A29 and a great stopping off point en route to the match from Devon. Fancy joining us?

Duty commitments mean not only will I miss Eastbourne(unless I play call-out roulette) but also Cambridge and the TUST meet. Sounds like a good day out planned. Having met all the parties concerned, whoever takes up this offer is sure to have a cracking time.

It's a nice idea but I'm not in semi-retirement so I can only make it to the football! ;D Semi retirement is why we're not heading for the more exotic flight destinations of Hamburg or Berlin or a weekend sunning ourselves in Kirkudbright this year......................times are hard old fella. So it's Bognor and Eastbourne. It's also the reason for the dress code, I only hope the Barnet1 doesn't interpret it as something out of Oddbins By the way, as you're going to the match perhaps you can drop Foggy Eallinggull home so he doesn't have to run the gauntlet of one of those "Nora Batty" moments from his missus

Haha! Yes of course it'll be be my pleasure. He's quite a witty raconteur. I just hope that his back is up to the rather more sporty ride of my BMW rather than that urban haute bourgeois Swedish Hovercraft he usually rides around in. Just joking Alex, it's a lot quicker than my Fokker. ;D

I'll happily take up your (co-erced) offer of a lift home Chris, thanks. Should I bring my own cushion? And how about string-backed leather driving gloves and goggles

Everyone a winner apart from dear old Alan so I hear. ;D Well I had two winning bets, the second of which was diminished because I split my stake money between my original choice and my"second preference" That was race six and I had seen three of my "second preferences" beat my selections so took Chas' advice and split my stake money. I still won enough to recover my losses AND get ahead of the bookies once more so went into the last and seventh race "betting with the bookies' money" as they say..................."they" won it back! Never mind, it's not my living; nothing gained nothing lost AND I got in the old codgers' entrance at the football last night too! In fact at twelve quid for a day's racing and seven quid for a night's football who's complaining?

] I got in the old codgers' entrance at the football last night No real surprise Merse that when they look at you, they never feel the need to challenge your age, while I still have a problem getting served at the bar.
