So was Jordan Chapell's goal on Saturday really TUFC's fastest ever?
To be honest, I doubt whether we'll ever really know. Rothmans only started including goal times from 1996 and even if we could list all the first minute goals it would be impossible to split them to the second.
I can tell you that the last first minute goal for Torquay before Saturday was Tim Sills at Droylesden on April 1 (honestly!) 2008. The last first minuter at Plainmoor was by a young Kevin Hill v Doncaster on 27 September 1997. Just eleven days earlier Andy McFarlane scored in the first minute at Ipswich.
Can anyone remember any other first minuters? Pat Kruse's does not count!!!!

So two other "1 minuters" since 1996, so how many since 1927? Somewhere between 10- 20? If we could have a list of those then maybe the associated match reports may have a breakdown of the seconds as it is something that most would coment on surely? being somewhat of a rarity, particularly if in the first half of that minute....

linkAh, the Herald has now picked uo those stats kindly researched by Jon! DT actually emailed me on this and my reply to him formed the basis of my post on here. I've been enjoying Dave's TUFC reporting for 40 years now, so am only too pleased to share stuff with him. Lots of people read the Herald who don't read the forums.

Reading his reports in the mid 80s as we fought against relegation was what got me into our team!

Up until a couple of years ago, I used to get the Monday Herald delivered up here just for DT's match reports. Well beyond when it was far easier to get the detail online. He's a cracking journalist. We're lucky to have him reporting on us.

Fisher's goal at Southport was within a minute of kick-off but a good forty seconds slower than Jordan Chapell's against Portsmouth.

How about this one from the great escape run in on April 7th 1987... Another fantastic cutting Gullone. Thank you. We will never know for certain which is the fastest TUFC goal ever. This one may have been a contender until last April, but we have video evidence of Kalvin's goal at St Albans - nearer to 10 than 15 seconds. This must be the one to be beat and it would be interesting to know if any that might claim to rival this one.
