It was caused by some freak weather somewhere in Europe that effected all satellite signals.

Yes same problem so watching Reading on sky one Cheers Dave back in action just as well as I need to try to get a new deal later this week!! Do you need a new deal after they agreed a reduced price after a previous price increase?? Think that makes sense?? This has reminded me that my deal might run out soon. Might have to make another of those calls threatening to cancel if they put the price back up. And I also watched Watchdog and then flicked over to find no signal on Setanta. Sat on the sofa cursing the irony after earlier saying to me girl that we never seem to have any problems like they referring to on Watchdog!!

Yes you will need to check when you phoned last as it was only for so long, you can bet they will just sneak up the price, so a call to make sure you can keep the reduced price will be in order.

Coverage was fine on Setanta via Freeview.
Problem was due to the impact the weather conditions were having on the satelite reception. Setanta uses a different geostationary satelite to that of Sky, and you'd ideally need to focus your sat dish on a different location to get a better signal, apparently!
The Setanta website has the following helpful message for you all:
Setanta is always sorry to hear that any customer has experienced a problem with their reception of Setanta Sports. We believe this is an issue that affects a tiny minority of our customers.
However, if you have had difficulty receiving the signal for Setanta Sports, the positioning of your satellite dish may need adjusting.
Setanta is a television producer and does not own, operate or install the satellites or the receiving equipment that are used to broadcast or receive its programming.
We recommend you contact the company that installed your satellite equipment; they will be able to make the necessary checks on your dish alignment.

G`day being a satellite and aerial engineer maybe i can help. Setanta is broadcast from BSKYB 28.2 degrees east, the very same satellite Sky use. Freesat and Sky are 28.2 degrees east, you can get the same feeds from other sources but nearly all installations of Freesat and Sky, the sat dish is lined up to receive 28.2 degrees east because you can use a zone one Sky dish and get good signal strength and quality. It makes sense because it is the best way to keep install costs down whilst giving best reception. Cable is the most solid of transmission feeds, aerial and dish are both effected by weather and atmospherics, but try getting cable in some areas you just can`t so some of us have to accept that every now and again shit happens!

Anyone who needs their dish re-aligning feel free to p.m. me as I will be more than happy to give any Torquay fan 50% off. Normally £40-£50 for a re-peak or service call out, I will re-align and warranty any re-peak for £20 provided your in the TQ post code area! Any further than that I would need to add a small amount for fuel.
