So Timbo has, as we always expected, a fine collection of Newport County v Torquay programmes that he'd been keeping in reserve. No doubt there are relics from Workington, Southport and Barrow biding their time for the right moment.
This Newport programme is a Duplex Litho production and certainly bears a few of the hallmarks.
That Aldridge fellow sounds a decent signing for them, don't you think?

So Timbo has, as we always expected, a fine collection of Newport County v Torquay programmes that he'd been keeping in reserve. No doubt there are relics from Workington, Southport and Barrow biding their time for the right moment. This Newport programme is a Duplex Litho production and certainly bears a few of the hallmarks. As a programme collector in the 70's, I always enjoyed Newport's programmes as they managed to cram enormous amounts of information into a few pages (16 including adverts if my memory serves me). Yes the print was small but it lasted a lot longer than the half-time 15 minutes to read. I was interested in the Duplex Litho Press appearance. There was a time at the tail-end of the 1970's when a fair few football league clubs had their programmes produced by Duplex. I know that we and Plymouth were two: apart from the colours and item-names they clearly came from the same template. I am sure that at least five, if not more, other league clubs used that template. Thew were attractive programmes and, rather like Stylo football boots, I wonder what commercial problems led to the demise of Duplex Litho. Maybe technology, competition or cost of raw-materials put them out of business. Does anyone know what became of that company?
