With a bit of luck, this will be our first chance to see any new signings in what will be a low key game. This is free for last season ticket holders with a light buffet also provided from 5:30pm

A decent workout this evening.
Rice Tonge McKenzie Downes Nicholson Cameron Lathrope Craig Chappell Benyon Bodin
At HT Conor Thompson for Rice, Cruise for Downes and Mansell for Cameron (with Craig going wide left and Chappell switching to the right)
Later Niall Thompson, Sullivan and Yeoman for Chappell, Bodin and Benyon
Later Hutchings for Tonge and Harding for Lathrope.
Formation 4-4-2, but Bodin dropping a bit off Benyon, so almost a 4-2-3-1.
In view of our shortage of defensive cover, I found it interesting that Cruise came on at centre-back (where we were originally told he could play, but then told he couldn't!) and Hutchings at right-back (as predicted here by Supergulls).
Both looked very comfortable in those positions and are both good "footballers". Of course, a League 2 side would give a bit of a tougher test than they faced tonight!
I like Tonge particularly - looks a "proper" right back. Lots of movement from the starting front four. Didn't see enough of Harding to form a clear opinion, but looks like a kind of midfielder who will do the simple things well rather than overcomplicate. Cameron looked fast and tricky - but then again so did Macklin this time last year.
First two goals early - a smart Bodin finish set up by Cameron and a trademark Downes bullet header from a perfect Craig corner. Yeoman, who very rarely fails to impress me, helped himself to a simple header - completely unmarked from another Craig corner - and a tidy finish after good work down the right from Thompson.

Nice report Jon, I missed the middle third of the match but was chuffed to see all four goals. I thought the pick of them was the first with Bodin sliding home after some good work from Cameron. Craig got two assists from his corners and nice to see him always look for the ball and distribute it well. Harding kept it simple and I see that he is now expected to sign next week.

Keyberry, The pitch looked really good, best for ages. It must be the first time I have been up Plainmoor for an evening match and they didn't put the floodlights on.
