So after our little detour to Llandloes, we finally end up in Ireland. Ivan Golac is messing us about over whether he is going to sign Darren Moore and Chris Myers. Mark Loram is given yet another last chance. HE 21/7/93 HE 23/7/93 HE 24/7/93 HE 26/7/93 HE 27/7/93

Ivan Golac is messing us about over whether he is going to sign Darren Moore and Chris Myers. I was going to say that Ivan chose Myers over Moore, but reading more closely it appears he chose Myers over Paul Lambert. What odds Myers ending up at Borussia Dortmond and Celtic, with Lambert ending up at Taunton and Dawlish?

Good to see those Darren Moore/Dundee United stories. I'd almost decided they were a figment of my imagination. Some face-saving for Golac because Lambert went to Motherwell anyway and Craig Brewster turned out to a decent signing for Dundee United. Last heard of at Crawley?
I wonder how Chris Myers is remembered by Dundee United supporters? If, indeed, he is remembered. Oh hang on, he's mentioned on a worst ever player thread....
The triallists from Pompey and Swindon. We know about Nick Burton but Chris Owen and Mark O'Driscoll? I don't think they came back to haunt us.
Struggling to read the small print on my phone but I can see a reference to Rhodri Giggs. I finally got to see him play this year some twenty years on. Finished last season at FC United. Is there any mention of David Byng bubbling under prior to his explosive start to the season?
I would have loved to have seen the game at Bray, a small seaside resort to the south of Dublin. Unfortunately it wasn't on the itinerary in 1994.

So it was a 2-2 draw at Bray Wanderers back in 1993. I was wondering about the score and line-up when I recently spent a Monday evening watching Bray Wanderers play Shamrock Rovers. It just happened to be the day after a West Bromwich Albion team, under the charge of Darren Moore who played in that 1993 game, had beaten Manchester United. Who'd have thought that? I've taken an image of the Bray Wanderers v Torquay United programme from eBay. I'd like to think good old Timbo has it in his collection: From what I can see the closest subsequent link between the clubs appears to be Matt Gregg who had a couple of spells at Bray during what proved a lengthy League of Ireland career. Bray's ground is just behind the sea front which itself is reminiscent of Teignmouth with a touch of Paignton thrown in. I rather liked it. A few pictures for you:

I hadn’t seen these before, and like Jon noted, was amazed that Myers was chosen over Paul Lambert.
