What is it? after attending the Bristol Rovers game and the crowd was officially 5666 (not to sure about that) from where I was it seemed that only 300 (pop-side and the odd seat here and there) could be safety added. I thought that with the additition of BB it should be something like 6300 / 6400 not 6000!!!

Hello JJ, this link explains everything : www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/ticket-matches-flagged-Rovers-sell/story-18869648-detail/story.html#axzz2SGT6lTXAOur official capacity is 6,200 but our capacity was cut in the Popside on police advice which was most frustrating. So I hope next season if a big game is made all ticket we can have a proper sell-out of 6,200? I mean we are not talking about controlling tens of thousands here are we? By the way it was a great atmosphere against Bristol Rovers, wasn't it? It felt like going to a proper football match again. It's interesting to think Plainmoor used to regularly get these sort of crowds and more.

Swanny's link certainly gives one explanation, but anomalies still exist and I doubt whether a definitive version regarding which decisions were made by who concerning the numbers allowed into the Bristol Rovers game will ever be known.
As Swanny says, the Herald Express reported on Thursday that the Popside capacity was reduced on Police advice. Andrew Candy, commenting on another Forum the day after the match (see below), claimed that the Popside capacity had already been substantially reduced for that match by that shadowy organisation the SAG (any SAG members on the TFF I wonder ?)
'What is the capacity of the ground?-the capacity of the ground is normally 6,200 ( this includes press, directors, wheelchair users etc) but for safety reasons it was agreed with SAG that the capacity for the Popside would be reduced so the overall capacity yesterday was 5,970'
The suspicions in my part of the ground were that in the hours preceding kick off the police may have thought that a significant number of 'on the day' Popside ticket sales were being snapped up by Rovers fans, and a decision was taken to stop further sales therefore limiting even further the numbers allowed onto the Popside. They did indeed 'sell out' of tickets they were willing to put on sale, but of course that was considerably short of capacity.
While we all want to watch matches in safety, I'd imagine that the SAG will again be looking for reasons to limit the capacity, if only to justify their existence, and would therefore assume we'll be lucky if we're allowed to top 6,000 next year for the big games.

Would this be the same organisation that have ruled that Bristow's bench can never be filled as there must be a gap of a few vacant seats between the home and away support. I can sort of see where they are coming from but when you have a couple of dozen Bristol supporters celebrating their goals in the home end of the bench without any trouble and there was a lot riding on that game, is this another precaution too far?

Isn't it ridiculous that these hi-viz f#%^tards can restrict the revenue of TUFC on a jobsworth whim? They should be made accountable and cover the lost money due to their dumb decisions. Who the hell are these people anyway? Surely this is a restraint of trade. Make the feckers pay the difference or knock it off the Police invoice. That would sharpen their attention. While we're at it, scrap the stupid yellow lines on the Pop which wouyld probably add a few hundred to the capacity. Maybe it's worth pointing out to these tax payer funded, non job, union protected, council pension holding, clip board tw@s that it's Plainmoor not Heysel!!

Just looking at this old thread and our official capacity was 6200 but can be reduced by the SAG (safety advisory group). Been academic in recent years but wonder what the latest thinking is for our last 2 games?
